2022 Volkswagen Jetta First Drive Review

The Volkswagen Jetta gets a mild facelift for 2022 and a new engine for the "regular" models. Gone is the 1.4T, in goes the Taos' 1.5T for more power and improved fuel efficiency. The Jetta is refined, well equipped, and the GLI remains a potent compact sporty premium sedan.

Thanks; that was a very good review. I was actively car shopping with recent fuel prices in mind(now over $2/L!). I tested the Civic Touring and the Camery & leaning towards the Civic. Then… I tested the Jetta Highline: SOLD! I felt it was a bit more sophisticated and I absolutely loved the digital cockpit! I’ve had it for about six weeks and I’m getting amazing fuel economy in ECO mode. On one fairly flat 90km trip I averaged 4.9L/100 km which is 48mpg!! I’ve since taken the same journey and recorded 5.1L… simply outstanding! Thanks also for the tip to change the custom steering to Sport Mode for a bit quicker responses.

Just got the Highline over the civic touring.. Much quieter than the touring and it's cheaper as well.. I'm very happy with the Jetta Highline.. Kudos to vw

BEST Jetta review on youtube. also perfect for me because I want the volcano brown interior. the Jetta does such a good job at being a car. I'm cross shopping with a civic touring, and a Mazda3 carbon edition. i don't think i can get over the CVT in the civic and the loud cabin. the Mazda3 might be too small, and doesn't ride as well. Mazda made too many sacrifices to the chassis to up the ante on the interior. the Jetta interior isn't AS nice, but nice enough considering it rides better. if i'm nit picking then i'd say the light headliner is a zonk, but that's an easy mod. plus the dealership i'd buy from is offering a 10 year/ 200K mile nationwide powertrain warranty included in the MSRP.

FYI: The SEL only comes with this 8inch display/cluster, all lower models you get small screens

Canadian prices are about the same as US prices for the Jetta. From watching all the Canadian reviewers that's pretty unusual. I think as long as gas prices are high like they are now the pendulum may swing back just a little bit towards compact sedans since they get better fuel economy than a compact SUV. I don't think it will stop people from wanting to "sit up high", but it might be enough to keep the sedans we still have around.

Just so nobody has the wrong idea, you will not get the digital cockpit pro as shown in the video unless you buy the SEL trim. Anything less gets you a smaller/less nice digital cockpit

This video could have been 7 minutes long. After the 7 min mark its just a long monologue. Is this a car review or are we just listening to a guy rambling on and on behind the wheel. Show the damn car! After watching this Im thinking of buying a grey stripe hoodie more than anything else.
