The Dead Internet Theory 4: The Dead Among Us ➤ The Dead Internet Theory suggests that much of the internet is artificial and controlled by bots and algorithms, stifling the free exchange of ideas. Timothy Shoup, of the Copenhagen Institute for Futures Studies predicts that by 2025 to 2026, nearly 99% of the internet will be generated by artificial intelligence. The dead type among us.

AI technologies like ChatGPT and Google's LaMDA can mimic human conversation convincingly, posing a threat to authentic discourse. Billionaires, corporations, and governments wield this technology to shape public opinion, manipulate markets, and advance their agendas, eroding the Internet's democratic promise.

Search Engine Manipulation Effect (SEME) demonstrates how search results can sway voter opinion, highlighting the power of platforms like Google to influence elections and public discourse. The prevalence of bots on social media further distorts reality, with estimates suggesting a significant portion of users may not be genuine.

The solution lies in breaking up monopolies, implementing strong regulations, and electing leaders who understand the technological landscape. The democratization of AI presents both opportunities and challenges, requiring vigilant stewardship to ensure it serves humanity's best interests and fosters a truly open and equitable digital environment.

Finally someone who understands the difference between the word "conspiracy" and "theory".

I truly hate that I can never find what I'm looking for on Google. It's usually the same thing repeated over and over but never actually gives me what I actually want.

I miss the older internet where you type in something and it actually gives you that one thing.

I'm 41, and I remember before the internet was super affordable, and even back then it was known the military was 50 years further ahead than what they tell us👍🏻 great video so far❤️

First off this is the most wonderfully researched work done on this particular topic. I want to thank you for doing such a phenomenal job. It's really funny I was watching it with my eleven-year-old son who's autistic and it was so cute every time you asked a question he'd answer it with yes or no and he gave all the appropriate answers. It's nice people like you do what you do. Because he learns things better when he watches it through a video and I just appreciate it so much.

Thanks so much for this video! As I said on Patreon, I think this series is the most important of the ones that you've done. I have been using the term "the old Internet" with friends in discussions a lot lately. The discussion are brief, but I'm hoping that a seed is planted. Anyway, I hope you're able to keep this video up! You've stated some hard truths that a lot of powerful people aren't going to like.

No wonder so many people on the internet are lonely and depressed. We can't even find each other past all the bots and corporate manipulation.

Operation Lifelog by DARPA "ended" the same day Facebook launched, February 4th, 2004.

I can tell you put a lot of effort in making topics accessible for people who would typically have negative emotional reactions if not for your strategic framing

I loved your channel so much before, I love it tenfold tonight. You took all the thoughts out of my head, it was so soothing to listen to you speak what was on my mind. And thank you for mentionning our protests. I don't know where that is going, but it's definitely going to make history one way or another. Thank you so much for your content, much love from France

Bro. All time. The more videos I see from you the more I have respect for you. You seem like a very smart open minded guy. I’m glad people like you have channels out there keen on portraying the truth and not dismissing everything as a “conspiracy theory”
You are someone I could see myself being friends with. Hope you keep making great content brother!

I have also noticed the increase of my phone showing me things to make me angry and ruin my day (mostly with social media) I’m not sure what the strategy is with that but it’s strange how if you like dogs the algorithm will show you people abusing dogs instead of showing you things to put a smile on your face. Perhaps this is an attempt to divide us for profit

I don't remember if it was you who posted about it, but the DARPA LifeLog progam ended the day before Facebook started (and soon inexplicably overtook MySpace).

According to Google from Wikipedia (which no longer seems to report this date...):

February 3, 2004
The LifeLog program was canceled on February 3, 2004 after criticism concerning the privacy implications of the system.
