Your videos answer so many aspects of surgery, which helps ease anxiety....I hope when the time comes for my surgery. Thank you Dr. Kavah. The more I learn the better I'm feeling.

Thank you for taking the time to share so much information that the public needs to know. You constantly grab my attention of issues I’ve never even thought of. God bless you !

I'm a casualty actor for first aid training. The first time an EMT did an actual sternal rub I nearly screamed. Since then I have trainers tell the class beforehand not to hurt the actor on purpose. I am a real human after all and not a practice dummy.

Heya doc, thank you for your wisdom, which you spread through your videos !!! I totally enjoy them and learn things ALL THE TIME !!! I can only hope you somehow read my comment/ question. You should remake an alternate version, or part 2. In case of Fentanyl or heroin OD, could be extremely important vital information, especially if narcan isn't working

My dad recently passed out and was out cold for re 15mins. I did a sternum rub and pulled his ear lobes and nothing. Paramedics were pulling up and he started coming round. But sternum rubs should have gotten a result (after a couple i went 'midevel' on him. He said it hurt later😂) ill keep the jaw thrust in mind. Hope it doesn't happen again.

Last surgery I had, they sternal rubbed me to wakefulness. I was not happy.

As a PACU nurse, I have personally performed both. Jaw thrust is my least preferred. I also really hate when anesthesia gives me an unstable patient. Just saying

Wow I was woke up in surgery being told that i needed to breath
I woke up in recovery feeling like someone shocked me in the jaw
Always wondered 🤔 why. Thanks Doc

I had a sternal rub and bruising after. But they never told me it was because I wasn't breathing. They just said I was taking too long to wake up

That pressure point between the ear and jaw is nuts

Imagine all the research and experience surgeons and anesthesiologists require to keep us alive!

We used those two techniques as EMTs and paramedics to check level of consciousness in accident or trauma victims.

Sternal rubbing can assist with Opiate overdose…though it’s not always effective…

How does sleep apnea(particularly central sleep apnea, which I have due to the medication(s) I take, but also obstructive sleep apnea I guess) affect surgery/anesthesia? I mean obviously I understand that the patients are(generally) intubated, but do you have to change anything, like which medications you use, the dosage, when you them off of the ventilator, how certain surgeries or procedures are typically done, the aftercare, etc.?
Thanks for the information you give in your videos. I love it!

That might be why my jaw hurt after surgery but had no other pain. It took about a week to stop hurting.
