I’d love to hear a video on the psychological part of losing weight! I feel like everyone always focuses on the physical (working out, eating, etc.) but the hardest part is what you tell yourself.

I’ve lost 150 lbs in total and 80 in the last year. I been chillin in the 195/205 range and am trying to re-evaluate and create some new goals (since for as long as I yoyod my only goal was to be under 200) this will be very helpful to change it up and hopefully get this moving again

That last bit about not restricting foods=not wanting them as much... SO TRUE. I 100% experience this now and it's awesome

When I first came across your videos, I was eating 1000 calories a day. I saw your reverse dieting videos and did my own research and realized the big ass luggage of extreme health conditions I could've caused myself. Yesterday I counted my calories again, after months of reverse dieting and breaks, my weight has gone up 10 lbs but I'm eating 2100 so if I want to lose it now, I don't need to be half alive :) Thank you for being a the person who set a start to my journey.

Really in-depth explanation. Thanks so much! During the pandemic put on about 20 lbs, and have since lost 10. I'm at a higher weight now, but I feel stronger and I'm looking good, so your explanations help validate my experience and give me confidence that I'm doing all the right things for my body and self right now. Thanks for making this information so accessible :D

I think a video on psychological relationship with food would be great especially around the holidays when everyone starts panicking about weight gain and then the pressures with New year's resolutions. You could also tie in another video on mini cut cycles with reverse dieting because I find those so helpful! I think there is a concern and fear with maintenance because you've worked so hard to achieve it, you don't want to lose it.

Man I love your videos. I'm an old school competitive body builder (46) and a lot of what I did in the past has caused what I am now. Part of that is totally what you talked about in here is lifestyle. I stopped going to the gym in 2019, had a lot of stress upon me a few years previous. Part of this is my old school understanding and thinking of the process of food. I love all your videos that help me get re-educated and up to speed on the NEW science.

Lauryn asked about the mental part. Its MASSIVE and I would love to see a video on it, Hell I would participate in it. Interview people and see what they say. The mental component is the biggest part of any of this. No one can make you do it, No one can make you STOP eating the bad stuff, or EAT the good stuff. It all comes down to you and your mental state.

Your channel has been a Godsend for me!!! 😇 The nerd in me loves the research you cite, but then you put it into applicable terms so that i can actually implement it! I’ve been struggling trying to lose weight so that i can start showing my horses again after having 2 kids, but like you said my body is excellent at homeostasis! I stay the same weight no matter what! But I’m about to start using the mini cut cycles theory! Thank you so much for your videos! God bless! 💙🥰

You are my favourite YouTube! Always so much solid evidence backed content.

Over the past year you helped me realize why my body is the way that it is. I used to maintain around 130/135 for years until I got very sick, lost 30 pounds of mostly muscle. When I started to get better I gained a ton when my body rebounded and now am hovering around 150/155 for two years and can’t seem to budge. I’m prone to binging if I get too obsessive with food but if I eat intuitively my body stays the same. I eat about 2500-3000 calories a day naturally of 100% whole organic foods. I try to cut and track for at 2000 calories but I feel like I’m starving. I ramp up the protein too. Any advice on how to do this sanely?

Such great, nuanced content! One more thing perhaps (if I have understood this correctly): Jason Fung points out that periods of calorie deficit don't lead to a lowering of metabolism if your food choices and timing prevent you from having insulin spikes. Oh, yeah, and if you avoid processed junk, you *are* doing a kind of restricting - but in a good way!

Thank you! Videos on mindset and psycological aspect of weight loss would be so helpful :)

The reason I’d disagree with the set point theory especially that my personal set point is to be overweight is cos when I lost 100lb my set point changed and I kept my weight stable. The reason I gained it back is because of my restriction and binge cycle.

thanks for this video. I just started calorie counting and before I cut found I was eating at maintenance around 2100 calories. Tried to cut to 1600 but found it too restrictive, so trying 1900 for now. Going to try and eat 1900, and go up to 2100 once a month, and focusing on strength training for workouts.

You should start a podcast. I always watch your videos when I’m at the gym and a podcast would make that so much easier 😂 I love your content so much. Love hearing all these things explained in a way I can understand.

Very informative and I agree with most what you mentioned.
I would like to have heard more about carbohydrates and less on calories.
I think a lot of people still think that eat less and move more is the answer.
I slowed you down to 0.75 and found it easier to comprehend for me.
I subscribed to you.

This is literally everything I’ve been looking for and exactly what I haven’t been hearing from the diet culture echo chamber.
I can’t wait to binge on your channel. Thank you so much 😊 I actually do have hope

This is what I've been thinking too. I lost 43kg (95lbs) over the last 3.5 years, I'm now at 57kg/125lbs at 165cm/5'5. I did very restrictive cut cycles to lose, that always were most successful directly after the maintance-phase. But I maintain at very different calorie-ranges. For the last 6 months my weight is basically the same although I ate 1500 in some month and up to 2000 in others (I do still track to find maintance, but I eat intuitively and track afterwards). When I eat more, I automatically move more. If I wanted to cut and lose weight every week again, I surely would have to go under 1400 or I'd have to reverse diet beforehand. I think I will use the more of calories in the christmas time for a short reverse diet and see in january if I want to cut in smaller cycles again to reach my goal bodyfat percentage

Great video! It would be interesting to see how one could approach mini cuts without calorie counting? Not sure it would be as successful. Regardless, more info on mini cuts would be awesome!
