Nilered videos at the beginning: "I got almost all my tools at the dollar store, so it was really easy to get ahold of everything I needed."
Nilered videos at the end: "So then, I whipped out my my tiny pressure chamber, that's built to withstand a nuclear blast during a plane crash."

The real important thing about hexagons: Hegagons, are the Best-a-gons!

Another project you might enjoy from Nile Red that took a lot of work was his work with ferrofluids. A lot less useful practically speaking, but still absolutely amazing to see. That happened over 3 or 4 videos, but if you want the short version, the last video he made on the subject (other than in shorts format) covers all the bases. I do recommend seeing his full process though.

Another project that required special engineering was his video on microwave plasma.

From what I've seen aerogel is mainly being used to make insulating paints and foam pads with it not entirely being aerogel but containing it. It losses some performance, but gives it more the qualities of normal insulation.

Your support and excitement for NileRed's projects always make me smile. I love that you see the value in these internet science communicators and are genuinely affirmative of their work.

Asianometry has a really good video on how India developed its nuclear weapons. He's made a similar video about China too. I highly recommend the channel, there's plenty to analyze

A lot has happened since Nigel made this video.
Aerogel is now used in pellet form and there is also flexible blankets available, which means that the issues with brittleness is greatly diminished.

I love the time we live in, we get to see the new basis of our world come together. The internet allows a genuine nuclear engineer to share captivating, nuanced and interesting outlooks to the public in such an accessible way. These videos are awesome!

I love that you say and explain some things from your nuclear perspective. Sometimes those are similar things from video to video, but this is MUCH better job that most reactors do. Keep up the good work!

Uh oh, homemade Aerogel? What if he tries to make FOGBANK, a foam used in thermonuclear devices?

I love your videos. This is what a react video should be; a professional adding context and new info or framing others content in a different light. Great work sir!

This was an excellent video. I really enjoyed learning from you and having that balanced out with the reactions and focus on Nile's work, which I also love. Great work!

I love seeing your reaction to these videos. I'm always in awe when I watch Nile, Styropro, Electro Boom and others.

the most important thing about hexagons is that they are the bestagons

I like how those aerogel samples look exactly like those volumetric fog demos from computer graphics tutorials.

Now that you say about hexagons, can you do the video called “Hexagons are the Bestagons” by CGP Grey? :D

I’ve asked this before but I was wondering if you could do a video on how nuclear power plants react to disasters / accidents NOT nuclear in nature. One I’ve been thinking of is how they react to an uncontrolled fire in the control room?

It amazes me how so many of the technologies we were told when I was young were "revolutionary technologies of the future" are now things you can find instructions online on how to make. Sad that this one didn't live up to expectations, though. A lot of technologies are promising "once we fix this one problem" and then that problem never gets fixed (in this case the brittleness).

The Fogbank material for US nuclear weapons is likely an aerogel. What I found most interesting about Fogbank is that when re-starting manufacture, there were a lot of problems that (apparently) turned out to be because the materials used were too pure - the older stuff had some impurities that turned out to be critically important.

Love your reacts to Niles videos. I think another video worth watching is the transparent wood one.
