Everything you need to know to get started. This video covers equipment, adjustments, mixing, spraying and cleaning. I made this video because I had such a hard time finding the information I wanted to feel comfortable that I wouldn't screw up and waste money. This is an introduction, I am a novice HVLP sprayer.
The format is super simplified and broken into sections within one video.

Hello Keith
I as rule don't normally comment on videos and such, but just wanted to give you a heart felt thank you for posting this video, your "Guy out in the garage" view point and explanations are a very refreshing and very welcome after the usual "armchair experts" that frequent You Tube with their "I'm a expert and only my opinion counts" I have been finishing guitars for about ten years using prepackaged nitro lacquer in rattle cans and that has been fine over the years, but have been wanting to move up to a HLVP system, your straight forward explanations and demo have given me the push I needed to go invest in a similar system, will probably do the Harbor Freight route as well ( I can just hear the trolls ) I watch my money and don't blow it on other peoples expert opinions, what you are using will fit my needs just fine, thank you again for posting this, it's much

One of the best videos I've ever seen. Some people complain it's too long but it's like a real lesson so of course it's long. If you have no idea what your doing, this video is amazing. You literally answered every question like "Can you leave the gun with lacquer in it" no one answers this anywhere. Keep it up.

Hey man heres a few pointers if you want better results :
A) DONT use BRUSHING Lacquer, go to Rockler or Woodcraft and buy lacquer that can be sprayed easily and if its humid get retarder thinner, otherwise the finish WILL turn white after you spray it, or in the case of BRUSHING LACQUER the white will be trapped under the coat, and you will not get it out. (ive tried to many times) .
B) use a smaller tip size than the harbor freight gun, It's meant to be for automotive paint which is a LOT thicker than 50/50 lacquer.. My go too for painting high gloss guitars is a 0.8mm tip.

You get PURE ORANGE PEEL with a 1.8 or whatever the gun comes with from Harbor Freight.... the only way to avoid that is increase pressure which is an overspray generator and an energy consumer...., and youll definately want a respirator for that....

Very good video. Everything to the point and most importantly to me you don't repeat the same words over and over. Some parts comical and that's a good thing. I learned enough to be dangerous. Also,
you seem like one hell of a nice guy. Thanks again sir!

Dude it was so worth the time it took sorting through all the videos to eventually land on this one. You took all the information I kept hearing and just gave us the simple version and didn't over explained things. I got that same lacquer today because that's all home depot had, but my intentions are to spray it as well! Thank you so much for the time you put into this video!

Thanks for the video, one of the things I've learned is to set the regulator psi with the trigger pulled. That will give you an accurate psi reading of the paint coming out.

Greetings: Great video made 4 years ago. Would you still start with the purple habor freight gun, or with the knowledge you now have 4 years would you start with a different gun?

Good evening, from UK, I have to be honest with you. I am clueless on spray guns, as a hobby i make verneer boxes, and have always used shellac by hand. However, I like you was frustrated by seeing videos that were just not helping me to choose the right equipment . After seeing your video, you have made my choice easy. Absolutely stunning video, well executed and thank you my hat goes off to you sir. . Kind regards Danny uk 🇬🇧❤🇺🇸 🙂👍👍

Hey Keith Veronesi, Great video! When you poured the lacquer in the cup and then poured the thinner. Why did you use the third row instead of the second row for the thinner? I have had the same sprayer from HF for nearly a year and a half. I think it's time to start using it. :) Thanks, Gary

Can someone please tell me why he didn't stir the MinWax can of brushing lacquer BEFORE he poured the liquid into the plastic container. I thought we were supposed to stir the mixture from the bottom
Nice video
Thank you
Tim
