You insulting the question about what is good about the caro kann, then being a pedant about "you don't need to know why an opening is good to be good at the opening" was so obnoxious. Get over yourself and just answer the question along the lines of "it's a solid and relatively easy-to-learn opening that has straightforward plans and decent piece development". You knew what the question meant and it is a perfectly valid question for a beginner to ask, not silly at all. People that are potentially interested in an opening might want to know the characteristics of it to get a feel for how it suits their play style before they invest a bunch of time learning it.

You'd think someone who is offering a course on the Caro would happily answer such a basic question in good faith rather than being a condescending douche about it for no reason at all.

Every single time I watch a GothamChess video, it inspires me to go play chess but then I blunder 8 bishops

This video is the one thing saving me from losing my sanity over the fact that I've been waiting almost 90 minutes for a Domino's order at a store that is a 7 minute drive away.

He's not the hero we deserve, but he's the one I needed right now.

I don't think I'd ever confuse your clowning around for arrogance. You make me laugh, (or at least smile) and I've learned so much from you! I can't get enough!

Interesting thing I’ve learned being very new to chess is that, when faced with a new version of an opening I’ve not yet played or studied, I can oftentimes puzzle out the book/correct move if I think about it. I had one game recently where my opponent did some opening I’ve never seen, i was like “I’m not sure what to do... I guess this knight move is safe, defends blah blah” and it ended up being a book move LOL

Tbh, im not surprised you get hate, not because you deserve it, im actually a huge fan of the channel, its just you have a very provocative personality and when you consider how sensitive the internet is, you will always get people who dont understand different people. If you just explain to people that you arent being a dick and its just you cracking jokes and whatnot, people will let off.

Day 64: Of requesting Levy to cover opposite coloured bishop endgames.

Especially when you have a slight material advantage of being up by two or three pawns against your opponent and you both have opposite coloured bishops as well.
