I think the biggest thing is people don’t have the matchup knowledge so they’re unsure if they have the advantage and how to capitalise on it.

Reasons for those bad decisions are simply lack of knowledge. I call myself with that as well. Like in im 100% HP, enemy is at 50%, so I engange and still die to him 1v1, as a very simplistic example. Having experiences like that create a wrong knowledge that is hard to change, because there really isnt something where I could test it out: Did I die by bad play or by really beeing weaker?

Trolling implies that they are intentionally doing something to ruin the game for their teammates. These players are not trolling, they just don't have the mechanical or match up knowledge. That's why they're in Gold.

Need a way to develop match-up knowledge. Like how best to spend off time to learn the match-up without needing to play it out or watch a vod of someone who might play it out correctly.

Using the word "trolling" that much through this analysis doesn't sound like actual proper teaching, cause it puts many people into a "if I have the knowledge, I have the right to call you troll and flame you" mindset, and is indirectly promoting a not healthy behavior. Choose your words wisely next one, cause through this kind of videos, you're promoting toxic behavior unconsciously.

As an Illaoi player in silver this hurt me to watch. I almost never get to do anything before level 3, and I sure as hell don't get to push before level 3. Granted, after level 3 the average person doesn't do anything to stop me from thinning the wave, and makes enough mistakes for me to have a decent win rate, but it is VERY rare to see somebody play as poorly as that Jax.

Extremely educational, but it's gotten to the point where you would be called a 'troll' if you don't know how to make challenger-level plays at gold rank.

I know I'm exaggerating, but I know some people who just started playing the game and getting called a troll just because they just started out and didn't know anything.

i feel like the level 2 spike thing is caused by people just not tracking their xp or how many minions have died, i know thats why i always used to fail to take advantage of lv 2

Does anybody know if there's a resource on specific matchups that you can look up going into a game? Like something to tell you who wins and who should try to get the push in an isolated 1v1 in the first 2-3 levels?

The issue with this is low elo players dont have this knowledge. You only get it through experience. There are hundreds of matchups and all of them are different. It takes a long time to learn this stuff. This video while good is literally saying take a test its easy you know the answers... when you dont know the answers lol.
