I am retired US Military and when I was stationed in California I was pulled over multiple times because I had Virginia tags and was lectured by California police and was also told I needed a California license which is false because I was active duty military and the law states that active duty military isn’t required to have a California license as long as they have a valid driver’s license from their state of residence which I did. This was 2005-2012.

I’m Canadian and I always visit my family in the USA. As long as your DL isn’t expired/restricted/suspended you can drive in all 50 states for 180 days!!! EVERY PEACE OFFICER: Federal, State, City. Should know that!
