In fairness, I think even I would climb as fast as Bernal if I thought some nutter with a chainsaw was trying to get me.

I believe it's something pretty regularly seen at DH MTB or any MTB race really... It's usually just the chainsaw without any chain on, so pretty harmless. However, since the roadies aren't accustomed to it I can imagine it's a bit of a scare :D

While the message that he has “dropped” everyone like a tree is great, one has to question how the hell they go that close to any rider with a chain saw.
