I think the problem is the industry trend thing. They used to make the games they wanted to, not whats popular to make an easy buck. Not as much passion put into theese newer titles and it shows. Not that im saying they are bad games

I think Square Enix's problem is they tend follow industry trends way too much like the Games as a Service BS and NFT BS.

I'm happy to hear Square Enix finally talking about Final Fantasy in this way. I think you can't fix a problem until you recognize it. Old school turn-based Final Fantasy and Modern Action Final Fantasy are both good, but they are not substitutes for each other. I think it's time start seeing individual final fantasy titles that target those different game styles instead of trying to merge them into a single game that compromises both. I know Square Enix has amazing talent. I think they just had some misguided goals for the games.

It's kinda like your favorite pizza place stopped selling pizza and started selling ice cream. There are people that like savory and people who like sweet. There might even be a few who like pizza flavored ice cream, but you're gonna make a lot of customers confused and angry switching up the menu like that.

Try and make everybody happy and you’ll make nobody happy. I think the best they can do is like he said making different styles of RPG‘s that can appeal to different people. And not every game Hass to be an action RPG nor does every game have to be turn based Nor does every game have to be strategy. Mix them up and do each one well and stop listening to all the whiners on the Internet they didn’t get their way because no matter what you do there’s always gonna be people that hate it and there’s always gonna be people that love it

I'm really looking forward to playing final fantasy 16 and crisis core and 7 remake series. I have never said that about any final fantasy. Square Enix already publishes so many games and has access to that HD 2d engine. They can easily make an awesome more traditional rpg with the final fantasy name slapped on it. They got talent just needs to be managed properly.

Final Fantasy's biggest problem is the leadership at Square Enix. It's been a roller coaster ride for the series since Sakaguchi got booted. His suggestion of making multiple styles of Final Fantasy games would be something I'd like to see happen if they were all given time and resources of their A-tier production. A big budget turn-based Final Fantasy would honestly feel like a breath of fresh air at this point.

I play RPGs almost exclusively at this point and FF isnt in my top 5 (maybe top 10) current RPG franchises. FF is completely living on its past glory at this time.

The last final fantasy I really enjoyed was X. I really kinda wish they had tried to deepen that kind of turn based system a bit more as I think the idea of different actions taking different amount of time before you can go again was really interesting.

My personal opinion is that Squeenix went too hard on the photorealistic graphics that they forgot all about the fantasy in the name of the games. Sure there are monsters and summons etc but the worlds really stopped feeling magical for some reason.

The games aren't strictly bad, but that is really just because they can't be strictly bad with that kind of budget and people working on them, thing is though that if you were to compare them to the potential you'd expect from people like that then they are bad.

I'm really glad to have found the Xenoblade franchise, because those games actually feel more final fantasy to me than whatever square it putting out.

I vastly prefer stylized graphics over photoreal, give me good art direction over graphical fidelity any day of the week. And the story and characters of these games just give me that much more of a connection than in the modern final fantasy. The magic just seems to be gone from square.

While I really enjoy the battle system in Xenoblade too, I still think there's space for turn based combat. The biggest issue wasn't ever really the combat being turn based it was how to make combat somewhat interesting with random encounters. Nowadays random encounters are really a thing of the past so you can focus on doing other things with the combat.

They shouldn’t try to make games based on current trends. If they do that it will come off dated. I prefer them to stick with what makes FF good and build upon that.

SquareEnix went wrong when they started shifting everything to following trends. Instead of making turn based RPG's. Go back to turn based RPG's with great stories. The entire brand is struggling because they are chasing something they never were good at. Instead of doing what they do the best. They lied about FF7 remake. They stated you would be able to chose turn based or action. slowed combat is not turn based. They lied flat out to boost sales. They really messed up. They still are. They need to go back to turn based. Which is what they were great at. That everyone loved/supported.

For me last good FF that isn't an MMO was FF9.

Yoshi-P handling FFXVI is a good decision. As a FFXIV player I trust him to do good in this next installment.

Final Fantasy XV was a mess without a clear vision. It started out as a cool looking spinoff and then got repackaged to a mainline game that didn’t know what it wanted to be. XVI looks better so far but looks more like a Western RPG than a JRPG.

Monolithsoft who built by old Squaresoft workers I think became more successful on producing RPGs ( I do not mean sales)

Would like Square Enix to do more Hd 2d games like Live A Live.

They're struggling because they focus more on graphics than an actual strong story. Hint's why the games come out ever 14YRS! 👀 Hell if you keep FF 1080p I'm happy I don't need fake 4K. All I need is a strong dark story with characters that have good animation with there moves and spells.

Just make the game that you want and stop caring what other people think (hint: that's not working!). Don't be afraid to send Takahashi an email.

I agree with Mr. Yoshida's comment about it being impossible to satisfy the requests of all the FF fans. I also agree with him saying it's probably for the best to create multiple titles and do the best that they can for each title.

I do think creating multiple titles where some have action combat and some have turn based combat is the way to go. Or some might have a different combat system all together. Opinions of which combat style is "better" ultimately does not matter. At the end of the day they are opinions. There are people who like action combat and there are people who like turn based combat. It's kinda like some people only liking chocolate ice cream and some people only liking vanilla ice cream. Then, there are some people who like both vanilla ice cream and chocolate ice cream.

I have faith SE will get their cadence and flow going with FF games.
