We don't know much about Thutmose IV, but he was a part of the 18th Dynasty's heyday, and would perhaps play an understated part in its downfall.

Look out for a new Armchair Egyptology video every Friday.

Good intrigue on that ending! Fascinating discussion on the evolution of Ra!

This channel is just great.

I learned about the dream stele of Thutmose IV from the video game Tomb Raider IV where Lara the protagonist reads the said stele before digging into the Sphinx. There was no widespread internet back then as a child so those games were my only few sources of info. It is one of my most memorable learning on Egyptology.

Tuthmosis IV had Y Chromosome of R1b1a2, and you know what that means.

He begat Ahmenhotep III, who begat Ahkenaten, who begat Tutankhamun, all Y Chromosome R1b1a2, also known as R-M269.

My last name is Pereira, and I'm R1b1a2. In fact, most men of European decent would share Y Chromosome with ancient Egyptian males. I would also wager there's less than 10-15 degrees of differentiation at 500 Y Chromosome markers for most European men. It's because all functional genes for the Y Chromosome are bunched tightly together, thus usually random mutations are the altering points, which are relatively rare. As chromosomal crossing over events, translocation, etc, fail to separate the tightly grouped functional genes of a Y chromosome.

*iGENEA of Switzerland, identified the lineage of Tutankhamun.

Perhaps "Ra" was more of an acclamation than the name of a god. Just as we today call Jehovah/YHWH by the name God.
Ra/Re may simply mean "He who reigns." Re being related to the word for king, Rex.
So all the gods who were supposedly merged with Ra were actually being identified as supreme rulers, like Amen-Ra, Sobek-Ra and all the others.
By simply referring to a god as Ra or Re, the Egyptian people may have merely been trying to be reverent
