The Baltimore Police Department spent tens of thousands of dollars on controversial Chinese-made drones that a national security expert called a threat to national security, the 11 News I-Team has learned. The I-Team reported in July that many Maryland law enforcement agencies are using drones made by DJI, which are the most popular drones nationwide. The Harford County Sheriff's Office currently has 10 DJI drones. Senior Deputy Michael Wilsinski told the I-Team that the DJI drones tend to be more reliable and cheaper, and offer more accessories. In Baltimore, the police department just purchased three of them.
