It's absurd that countries like Canada and the US allow offshore ownership of their soil. This needs to be ended and reversed.

China now owns all the major farms and farm product manufacturers in my area. I live in Australia, workers at those companies are now getting underpaid and farmers have gone on strike due to undercut milk prices which ruins business in all surrounding towns. I'm happy our government is now taking steps to prevent this but I think the damage has already been done.

China is not just doing this in the USA they are doing the same thing all over the world on every continent.

I didn’t know about this issue until I moved to Oklahoma/Arkansas with some friends, we were looking at buying some land when my friends brother, who has already lived there a few years, told us it’s really difficult to find land since China is buying up so much of it and paying way over market value. This needs to be stopped

If a US companies and/or citizens cannot buy up land in China for its own proposes, then why should Chinese companies and/or citizens be allowed to buy up land in the US? Legislation should be places before congress – of cause the issues are a little more complex and a proper analysis is needed to ensure that any legislation is not just shooting yourself in the foot, but a start in that direction is critical.

America needs to stand on its own; steel mills, tapping our own oil, creating plants to make what does is the best way to dig out of this hole. What happens when a Chinese company wants to tap American oil?

If we DO end up in WW3, who owns all that farmland if China is on the opposing side? Will the government sell inexpensive farmland back to it's own citizens or cash in on selling farmland to corporations? I think we all know the answer.

This all ignores issues like China's demographic bomb, their pending financial implosion, the basic fact that the PRC is on the verge of disintegration. The part about China hoarding grain supplies is tragic; not because they'll use it to blackmail other countries, but because their food storage facilities are so poor that easily half that grain has rotted to the point of unusability.

It's "fun" watching CCPChina wake up to the fact that despite decades of trying, they haven't been able to host any strategic resources for the USA, but Taiwan's ROChina has.

I’ve been in China for about 90 days playing music and travelling. The biggest surprise was when I’ve come back to the first city, there was no mountain no more around the hotel. They deconstructed the fucking mountain for 3 months and build a factory instead. There is no comments that the nature changes are caused by Chinese mountains demolishing. Might be. No hostile country should own any land in this country. The technology exists to make America not only independent from foreign goods, but also support large production. The only issue is a poor infrastructure that rely on highways alone to deliver majority of goods. While our mega cities are extremely inefficient causing a waste in resources. We also have an abundant of material waste that can be turned into useful materials.

I watched a programme where a Chinese investor had bought a villa in an exclusive location and kept renting it to pregnant Chinese women who went home after they had their babies who got an American passport! The way I understood the laws, they could come back in 18 years and get citizenship for their parents and they will all have right to vote!!
That's one way of substituting the enemy. Maybe one day they'll even vote for the US to become a Chinese satellite just like the Crimeans and East Ukrainians 'voted' to join 'motherland' Russia.
It's not just that the Chinese think long term and are creative: it's that our Harvard and yale graduate politicians are so naive. Guys, wakeup! Making Hollywood films of American supremacy isn't enough anymore and btw. no human can run out of a nuclear weapon fallout zone on foot!
