When discussing future watch trends there is a huge elephant in the room that is almost completely ignored -- the growing scarcity of qualified local watchmakers, especially here in the US, who are capable of servicing at a reasonable price the millions of watches that are being bought. The cost of a regular maintenance service now equals or exceeds the price of a new affordable mechanical watch. And as to a premium chronometer, such as a Speedmaster, a service may cost almost a couple thousand dollars and take six months.

Awesome, another episode with a special guest! I'm so glad Tom and Andrew decided to make this type of episodic show, it has really become one of my favorite shows on youtube. Keep up the great work!

Great to have Adrian on. All the best in one place. Keep up the great work. Entertaining, informative and knowledgeable.

Top notch discussion. Great fun to have Adrian chatting with you. Bullnose is correct, finding qualified watchmakers is a widespread problem. I just visited the main watchmaking regions in Switzerland, visited multiple museums, and chatted with a variety of watch people and that topic is front and center.

Big fan of Adrian, love his new podcast About Effing Time, brilliant guy, and I also love Watchfinder, I got lotta respect for Andrew and Tom, learned a lot from them and in my opinion this was one of the best episodes so far. You guys make the watch world a better place, for real. ✌🏼

At 5:39 - "you two seem to forgetting the massive explosion in popularity in bio ceramics." That one came out of the blue, incredible funny. Incredible interesting video btw. I liked the discussion about the microbrands.

Adrian's watch shots and videos are among the best ones in the YouTube watch community. The others would be WatchFinder (obviously) and Teddy Baldassarre.

(P.S: by the way who's next? Frederico?)

Thank you, very interesting discussion. I see the main problem for the scalability of micro brands is the lack of human ressources in the watchmaking market.

I also predict there WILL be a 39mm version of the Omega Seamaster Professional 300 after Tudor with the Pelagos 39.

Great chat. Yeah Tom for mentioning Ceramic, I love my gorgeous Blancpain Bathyscaphe on sail clothe. Yes I'd love it more at 41mm but it fine. I love my titanium OG Pelagos again in blue dial.

I hope Tom and Andrew get an invite onto about effing time.

Andrew and George were great with Nico.

This chat had one problem. IT WAS 2 HOURS TOO SHORT!!!

In the next decade, in no small part because of this very channel, I think (and hope) there will be a significant growth in the MicroBrand / Independent watch scene as it allows watch nerds to progress up the 'Horological Ladder' at a fraction of the cost of the Major Brands.
Starting at Under $1k, $2k and then $5k and finally $10k.

Under $1k = Chronograph, Diver, MIYOTA. $2k = GMT/Micro-rotor/ETA. $5k Simple Guilloche/Skeletonised Dials/Quality Materials/Wandering Hours. $10k = Tourbillon, Detailed Guilloche, Customised/Hand Finished Movements/Top Quality Materials/'Respected' Independent.
