Kindle Colorsoft Review! Get Kobo Clara Colour Instead?

Tony gives us his Kindle Colorsoft review in context of how it compares to the Kobo Clara Colour that *you* told us to get instead. Amazon’s e-reader has a better display and build quality, but the budget-friendly Kobo device is a dark horse (especially when it comes to what you’re able to install!).

As for some Kindle Colorsoft issues, we’ve seen others online get a yellow bar on their screen but haven’t experienced that ourselves. So otherwise, check out Tony’s reasons to Buy or Skip
?! the Kindle Colorsoft.

Amazon/ Kindle TOS says they can remove books you've bought since they say you are only paying for the Kindle service even though you paid for your books. I'll stick with Kobo I'm Canadian and they work with libraries.

Why compare the Kindle Colorsoft to the Kobo Clara? A more direct comparison would seem to be the Kindle Colorsoft vs Kobo Libra Colour.

Wait, you didn’t show the page loading on the Kobo.

Thank you for the video. I actually love both of these though I lean towards the kindle. Did your Colorsoft unit have any of the bottom yellow tinge? Supposedly from the adhesive they’re using. I’ve had two and both had this issue.

In terms of font, you can download fonts for both and put into font folder. Both brands work the same

We can buy Kobo Libra or Kobo Clara and add our PDFs or Epub files and read right? can we do that? if we don't need any subscriptions

These E-readers have a lot of benefits and cool features, but when you can get an iPad Mini (especially a few past generations), for as much or actually less while being able to do much more, it's hard to justify the cost of these premium readers - unless you prioritize E-Ink and reading comfort rather than one device that can do it all.

The software bugginess on the Kobo was the biggest let down for me.

I wanted to point out that you can install your own fonts on the Kindle. You just need a computer to download and unzip the ttf files into the fonts folder located at the root.

Kobo doesn't work well with custom dictionaries. Their English system font doesn't support Unicode. Kindle has best support for dictionaries.
