As a dedicated b&w reader, I would actually appreciate highlighting texts in different colors. Something to ponder if this feature would outweigh the disadvantage of lesser contrast in the colorsoft.

Having switched from the Kindle Paperwhite to the Kobo Libre Colour, I am much happier with the Kobo ecosystem. The pastel colours are nice, but I really, really appreciate the buttons to flip pages. The Kobo buttons fall perfectly into position. The Canadian Kobo system allows for borrowing with the Libby system, and actually allows for the use of audiobooks which for some reason has been eliminated from Canadian Kindles since Bluetooth is not available.

I went for the 12th gen Signature edition. I would like a colorsoft one day, but I'll wait for the 2nd or 3rd gen when hopefully the text is as crisp as the black and white kindles...

It looks pretty good. It looks like a colored newspaper! And it’s cool that way. I’m digging it.

Honestly I feel like the contrast is only an issue if you’re comparing it to another kindle device. Luckily, most people aren’t holding up a kindle next to another kindle everyday and will not even notice that the brightness is slightly darker. Can’t wait to have this device in front of my eyes on Friday!

I’m glad for knowing about the “screen door” effect on the colorsoft. I had my heart set on it but with the haze and slower page turn I may just purchase the paper white signature.

Would be interested in an Oasis vs new signature and possibly colorsoft. I’ve held onto my Oasis fiercely but have started to notice the lag as compared to the newer models.

I just bought my colorsoft. I’m enough of a kindle user that I found the color worth the price for all the books I read that have graphs and pictures where the authors refer to color. Hopefully i won’t have to return it for the contrast issues.

I'm so glad I stumbled upon your channel! I've had older Kindle readers and I've got a Kindle Fire that's pretty old and needs replacement. I got the Fire because I like to read graphic novels (and it was less expensive than an iPad) but over time I realized that I hardly use any of the other features that a tablet provides. Since I'm on the market for a new reader I really appreciate your reviews.

It’s definitely worth it for factual books when you have maps and photographs. I have already noticed the maps are brighter and sharper on the colour soft.

For me it’s actually being able go see my book covers in color. I don’t like that everything is black and white. Sometimes the book cover is also important.
