As a commercial carpenter I use DeWalt at work and at home (my company provides power tools at work). I have used Milwaukee in the past at work but the price is pretty high for a regular homeowner. All the other trades I work beside every day mostly use either Milwaukee or DeWalt, occasionally you see Hilti and Makita, but it's rare to see.

My 1/2 drive M12 stubby impact still works great after 3 plus years of use as a diesel mechanic. Only issue is the tabs on the battery have worn a bit and doesn't fit as secure as it once did.

I’ve had Rigid tools for years, they still work great. I’ve added more Rigids to my collection and plan to stay with them..

I use a mix. Makita is my go to for stuff I use alot (drill, impact). The main reason I bought them is I like their batteries the best. I just buy the adapters for other brands with the same ish voltage. Ryobi for things I won't use often ect. If I'm looking for performance in a certain category I try find unbiased tests and get adaptors.

For home owner, the most innovative to me is ryobi. Also great performance. I use dewalt for mechanic work.

Ryobi all day for home owners, hell even for a professional handyman. You can't beat that 18v+1 lineup. You can run everything from lawn care equipment to every single tool known to man, to indoor stick vacs. The price is reasonable and tbh everything works and holds up to repeat use and abuse amazingly well.

The dewalt 12v line really impressed me. Great value and great tools

Makita... Got a xwt14 that will kill any compact and fit in my subframe when doing shocks with ease.

Ridgid all day over here! Wonderful customer service the other week. I explained how a tool didn't work to my expectations, so they sent me an upgrade free of charge. Simply just sent back my old tool for free.

As a representative for Milwaukee, Ridgid and Ryobi. Ryobi is the best option for home owners or diy

Depends on the profession.and the
Type of home owners skills. For me as a cabinet builder of 35 years Makita is the way to go. They will outlast any other tool. N then DeWalt
Would be second choice.

After switching from dewalt to Milwaukee buying a bunch of tools because I heard great stuff about them, After 2 years I went back to dewalt because my Milwaukees had a 70 percent failure rate on them. And even with having them warranted it was still hurting me because I was once again down an important tool. I got tired of there junk breaking.

Dewalt is a solid choice for newbies and professionals

I’m in hvac and run Milwaukee. Had some of my m18 stuff stolen on the job last year, and I went with ryobi because the depot was running a good deal on them. 6 months later the ryobi sawzall went up in smokes but the hammer drill is still going strong. I put that sawzall through hell though

Home owner duty. Kobalt works just fine as well. When you catch them on sale really hard to beat bang for buck.

As a DIYer who has done everything from home renovation to making vehicles from scratch, building up engines, and everything in between. I honestly like the value you get from Ryobi, sure a lot of the tools are bulkier than their counterparts from other brands, but I havent had a tool break on me yet

My ridged hammer drill has gone 15 years, built a couple barns and a house. I like it a lot.

I, like yourself, have stupidly dumped far too much money into power tools for work and play. Yet I can tell you that I reach for my M12 tools over nearly everything else! If you're a homeowner I would actually buy Ryobi.. their new tools are great for the money! I bought one of their jobsite tabelsaws and a bandsaw from Ryobi just to try them out and was then going to give them to my dad, but I liked the way they cut so much that I kept both! There's some very smooth about how they operate. Although I will never, EVER get rid of my big collection of Milwaukee tools, I love them!

For a homeowner I would take a serious look at Ryobi. Their line up is second to none.
I use Dewalt and their flex volt tools.
But ryobi just has the homeowner market cornered.

For a home owner go with Milwaukee M12 line. As a professional M18 line.
