The krumlauf was an ATTACHMENT for a variety of weapons, most predominately used with STGs. However, it was also used with Kar-98ks and there where a few prototypes to fit to the gewher-43. It was made in a variety of angles, including 30, 45, and 90 degree variants. The 90 degree variant was the first and was meant to be used by German tanker crews to cover lightly armored spots on tanks without having to use an mg or open a pistol port and risk small arms fire or exit the tank. The barrels, particularly the 90 degree ones, where well known to destroy the bullet as it went through the curve, turning each shot into a really ineffective shotgun.
