Finger Numbness and Tingling (Median Nerve Mobilization)

Today’s video covers two of the best exercises for treating finger numbness and tingling. The exercises in this video are median nerve mobilizations, which will help with pain, numbness and tingling in the thumb, index, middle and ring fingers. The median nerve is the only nerve that passes through the carpal tunnel, which is the most common site for developing a compression neuropathy in the human body. Carpal tunnel syndrome can cause hand weakness, numbness, tingling and pain in the thumb, index finger, middle finger and a portion of the ring finger.

Besides numbness and tingling in the fingers, some people with general neck pain and nerve pain farther up the arm find this mobilization to be helpful.

1. The first exercise is a more common median nerve mobilization, but was only found to cause 6.6mm of movement at the carpal tunnel.

2. The second exercise shown here is a relatively new median nerve mobilization technique (see research citation at bottom) that was found to create 13.8mm of nerve slide in the carpal tunnel.

Even though the second technique created more movement at the carpal tunnel, both techniques were fairly equal in terms of how much they moved the median nerve more proximally. So, experiment with both and figure out what works best for you and your symptoms.

Chiropractor here. I've watched almost 10 incorrect videos before finally finding someone showing proper median nerve flossing. Great video. If you're confused by different people showing different methods for flossing, this guy is the right one.

Around 2 weeks ago, I carried two alltoo heavy bags, and 2-3 days after that I started to get numbing and tingleling feelings, in more of the region of ulnarnerve, even though it spills over to my whole left hand, and neck. Also affect skin in my face, and the chin.

So great thanks for both videos, on how to help with these. Now its been inflamation through my whole spine for some days. (spinal stenosis in lumbar for 15yrs, better when I do not over-carry, have trained to balance what I do, each day) I have stretches I do everyday.

It is so hard to not being able to do, what I wold like.

Hopefully it will heal with some better movements,

For a couple of months now, I have been having little pinched feelings in my fingertips.
This has led me to your video. The first set of movements has caused the left side neck pain to really ack up during reps. My hands feel better for sure

Awesome THANKS!!! Did it twice and felt relief I’ll work on this I feel like mine stems from bad shoulder sleeping and a terrible mattress! I’ve been looking crazy at work with my arm in the air and out to the side. Thanks for giving me more direction… I was close! ~former nurse, current radio sales! The first exercise sent my shoulder pain from a 6 to a
Great clip to isolate what and where.
Now, I think it's time to see an orthopedist.
I was scared to go because I was scared the doctor would want to do surgery. Now I feel the problem can be treated with P.T. that is professionally diagnosed and tailored specifically to me.

Ive been having this pain a few months now-BAD!!! My hands get so numb it hurts so bad i start considering going to the hospital! After doing these the pain starts slowly fading away! Thank you for helping provide a little relief ❤

I overdid on explosive finger push-ups and finger planche work, which absolutely destroyed my finger tips. I didn't feel the pain right away, but after a few weeks/months I realized how bad the damage is. The particular nerve was oddly visible in my finger tips, they were slightly purple and slightly swollen as well.

This really helped a lot, what a time to live that we can just watch a video and find the cure so quickly.
