I love how Jarrod has gradually evolved from "monotone boring voice" to "slightly enthusiastic monotone voice" :D Also back on topic, so happy that they finally removed that horrible power plug socket in the middle of the left handside. As a lefty, that's one thing that always kept me away from it.

Asus 2023: "yeaaah booyy!! Lets slap rtx 4090 in a 14 inch laptop"!!
Asus 2024: "yeah i guess 4090 are a bit too much for 14 inch laptop"
😂😂😂

That G16 with Meteor Lake and 4090 looks REALLY nice. I hate the trend of soldered memory though as my RAM needs are larger than most people have so there rarely are off-the-shelf specs that serve me.

But however, the RAM is soldered. This time, it's completely without slots despite 32GB.

Damn they really stepped it up this year the G14 looks extremely premium.

still having soldered memory on the G14 is what puts me off, and its even worse this year. at least allow up to 64GB RAM

Ii feels like the G16 with RTX4090 is the direct upgrade from the last year G14 RTX4090, while this year G14 is a thinner and less powerful version totally focused on portability. Big sad that we lost a unicorn 14" enthusiast laptop with a top dog GPU.

This year's G14 seems like a huge regression in most areas from the previous models from 2022 and 2023. The loss of optional high-end dGPU, ergo-hinge design, ethernet port, vapour chamber, mini LED and shaved-off battery capacity stick out the most as negatives. At the same time, the forfeiture of AniMatrix display (an inconsistent gimmick with poor global availability and a huge encumbrance for the weight); the addition of optional OLED upgrade, 6-speaker system with enhanced audio, official USB4 support and third fan for the chipset; the switch to unibody aluminium chassis, LPDDR5 memory (albeit limited to 32 GB), wider touchpad, and seemingly better looking, more legible and functional keyboard layout are definite improvements to an otherwise amazing series of laptops with proven track record. Areas I would like to see improved: higher memory capacity (up to 96 GB SODIMM or 64GB LPDDR5/x, which Zen4 capably runs); the reintroduction of vapour chamber, which should make even more sense in a thermally constrained and dense setting with lower risk of dry-out or uneven heat accumulation; functionality, visibility and capabilities (solar charging, ambient light sensor etc.) of the slash lighting LED; reintroduction of mini-LED option; True HDR capable LED panels with 500+ cd luminance; and finally, allow charging through USB-C at higher than 135W.

The new G14 looks soo clean! It's so close to a more stealthy look rather than a gamer one and I'm all for it!

Oh god.... I hope that the removal of vents at the sides are not a step back in thermal management(looks like it). I work at a reseller and there's always a difference between laptops who play/work at 95°c ish and laptops at 75ish not just the cpu/gpu can get fried. There are many tiny component that are also compromised by having a 95 degree cpu/gpu. Glad to see all those upgrades... but thermals is a critical factor for me to even to sell a laptops not just for my personal taste.

I say, the Legion slim series finally has a rival design wise. Lets see if they can keep up with the Legions in terms of performance. Please do compare them when you are able to test it.

Wow no vapor chamber soldered ram and higher resolution screens with no 4080 plus option? Lame. I’ll stick with my 2023 for this year!

It looks like Asus was feeling the challenge from the Lenovo Legion Slim 14 and 16, and redesigned the G14 and G16 to surpass those.

personally would've taken ram slots over the kind of pointless system fan in the G14, but hey. also they totally could've kept ethernet on the g16 if they just made it a flip-down slot like every other manuf lol. also kind of absurd they just made the vapor chamber massive and got rid of the ram slots, big L for asus this year it seems.

You should change the title of the previous video. 14th gen is not Meteor Lake. Intel announced that the 14th gen HX is raptor refresh for high-end gaming laptops.

The Zephyrus G14 and G16 impresses me this year. I love the design of the G14 2024. So minimalist and lightweight. Probably gonna do a video on all G14 laptops

Probably a stupid question but is a review of the G16 coming soon? I'm curious how the noise metrics are to see if upgrading to the vapor-chamber-eqipped 4080 version is worth it over the 3-fan 4070.

2 Questions, is there not gonna be a M16 this year? and what happened to 4070ti Laptops are they not coming this year as well?

They look wayy better, but i really miss the G15 with Ryzen cpu

DOA because of the proprietary charger. We already have USB-C power, even on AMD — what a stupid decision!
