I never knew about this about black guys till I joined the military. We had one guy that kept trying to be clean shaven in my old division and had bumps all over. He wanted to be clean shaven like everyone, till he realized everyone else wanted that “No Shave Chit” all he had to do was trim down below 1/4 inch and keep it neat. Still looked sharp and professional. Wish military would just let everyone grow facial hair and let go of the clean shaved rule.

Or just use a safety razor. It doesn't cut hair below the skin level at rest, so no predisposition to getting ingrown hairs. It also costs cents per blade.

Used a safety razor since the military (82) never had any problems. It was the shaving cream that was causing problems. Now I use Noxzema skin cream and I'm good to go.

I've had success with both liners and wet shaving. I've tried to use popular shavers that people buy that look look clippers but they didn't get the job done

I can use an electric razor on my head, but the face is a big NO. Dad's coarse hair and Mom's fair skin is a perfect mix for razor bumps.

I just have some black in me, because I’m a 40 year old white dude, and I’ve been shaving my face with a trimmer for years. I have very thick coarse hair on my head (picture like a Justin Timberlake type thing), and have a crazy thick beard. My face busts out in razor burn like crazy if I try to use a razor.

What’s the top of the line trimmer for face? I’m currently using a Wahl Peanut, but would invest in a better model

I use a single blade razor from Lion on my ckeeks and then underneath my chin, I use the trimmer.

After shave, is Bump Patrol (30ml gel). Once a week I steam my face and use Garnier vitamin C face wash.
