I have spent time listening to war diaries from WW2, this insane tank on human showdown / rundown was quite common during operation Barbarossa in Russia. Both sides would use their tanks to run down infantry, and gun positions (machine gun nests, anti-tank crews with their cannons ) after they had run out of shells and bullets. They would also squash trenchline positions and they would even sit over top of hardened positions running their exhaust into then to poison or smoke out remaining soldiers. So what we see here is neither rare or exceptional, just normal war, crazy as it looks.

To me this is one of those examples which makes it crystal clear war is such a human tragedy. The purpetrators of organized violence get run over in this instance, but their victims, if able to return home, return home traumatized. My heart goes out to all the brave defenders in the field.
