As I’ve gotten older, the actual fiction in sci-fi means less and less to me. It’s all about the writing and the acting for me. Brilliant scene in every aspect.

This scene right here is the reason I can't watch BSG without seeing my own father in Adama and a bit of myself in Lee. Anyone who's lived through a situation like that knows that there are some days where you think that facing down a race of genocidal machines is less terrifying than going home for the evening.

"I believe you. I just don't think she ever loved you." Volumes are inside that thought.

I watch this episode here and there. Through the years. It helped me deal with a lot of hardship. Bad choices that I ended up having to suffer the consequences of. I find a lot of wisdom in this show. Scenes like this are what keep me coming back after all these years. A man takes responsibility for their choices, right or wrong.

Whoever wrote this definitely had an ex wife. Props to the actress. Even in Sci-fi, it would have been too unrealistic if...if she had taken responsibility for anything.

I suspect why he cared so much about his own crew was his own way to fix his past mistake. He failed his own family, so now that he has another family to protect, he protects them as much as he can and cares for them.

🍁An absent father and an abusive lush for a mother. Poor Lee.

Something occurred to me after seeing a flashback in "Scattered" that might explain Carolanne's anger. Tigh asks Bill how he managed to get reinstated in the Fleet, Bill mentions his father-in-law's friend in the Defense Subcommittee, and Tigh responds with "so the new wife comes through." If Carolanne was convinced (wrongly as we learn in this scene) that Bill lied about loving her and married her simply to bolster his career, it would explain quite a lot.

Though that certainly doesn't excuse her abuse of Lee and Zak. It's why this is one of the non-battle scenes that made the most impression on me (let's just say I could empathise with Lee when I first saw this...).

"Lee and Adama" Ughh, they're both Adamas! Lee Adama and William Adama.

2:10 "Don't listen to him Bill" sounds exactly like Kate Vernon who plays Ellen Tigh.😅

Although I like this scene - I really don't like this episode. Felt like it came a bit out of left field with the format.
