It's really sweet to see how far Lee has come, from hating Athena and seeing her as a thing who shot his father, to accepting her as a friend. And to see Athena so genuinely happy for him in turn. :)

Still remember the day I left the army. We have a tradition that entire company salutes you when you leave the service honorably, and it is very hard to describe what you feel when you get that. More precious than almost anything in life, and a memory that I will never forget.

If you really watch his face during the entire scene he's not acting., the expression on his face and those emotions are real. And the music in the background that's like a knife to the heart. And that is why this is one of the most powerful scenes in one of the best series ever done for television. Think about it ., here it is years later after the series has ended, and it's still feels like it's the first time watching it.

One of the best moments of my life, was when my father, a Maj General in the Army came to see me at 29 Palms. Was out in a tent doing a CAX Exercise. Sitting on my rack doing paperwork and a Lt Col walked in and called attention. It's Battalion Commanders who are called attention to. We all jumped up, my name was called front and center. It was my father who was the regional commander. He shook my hand, and kissed my cheek. I felt embarrassed as hell, but loved him for doing it. Fathers always love their kids, but not always show it.

One thing that BSG TNS always mastered from start to finish were the human connections. Those weren't just characters! To us viewers, they were alive, and we were on a hell of journey with them. Laughing and crying whenever they did. There are many other scifi-series that I love. But I've never been invested in any cast as much as in this one. Apart from Firefly, obviously. <3
