honestly i prefer mint, or cinnamon desktop. I have tried KDE because of it´s customizability but i just don´t like how it feels at native, I also tried ubuntu with gnome for how popular it is, but i just felt it weird. I think, at least for me, that mint cinnamon is the best option because the idiology of the design is very straight forward, i mean, wherever you rigth click you can access those specific settings, it sounds like a simple thing, but that was a problem i had with other desktop environments, i had to go to menu and to the right settings window and whatever, why they can´t just make it accessible by right cloicking on the thing? Besides that as you said, you installed, and basically everything works out of the box.

The only thing that i don´t lilke is that it has less customizability, but most important, right now it´s kind of behind on updates.

GNOME is the only professional DE. Everything else is just embarrassing except tiling WMs.
