Common BUGS in Lovestruck + BG Update (Sims 4)

Between the base game update, emergency patches and the release of the new sims 4 lovestruck expansion pack, we have some new bugs (and thankfully fixes) across live mode, bb (building) and cas (create a sim). Here are the most common bugs, broken gameplay and weird glitches so you know what to report to EA Help.

I play on PC, had an error code happened a few months ago and sometimes the loading screen goes on for ever, so I have to restart my computer. I don't know how many is aware of this, there is this scratch folder inside the saves folder, but when players exit the game, they will not see the folder. The reason I know this, is because I play in windowed mode and I delete the extra save files while playing my game. I have no idea why it is in the folder to begin with. But I exit to the main menu, delete the file and very important, exit the game.

Are we not surprised? This is part of The Sims 4 experience. We should start a betting pool that tries to predict what bugs we will have during any given release or update.

I do hate when companies or shills use mods as ultimate scapegoat, when 99/10 times it is broken game update that was not play tested in any capacity .

I had a weird bug where my sim refused to go to sleep. I had removed all of my mods( one needed to be updated and had caused a glitch ), cleared the cache, and even repaired the game for good measure. I switched out her beds, had her try to nap, and had her sleep on a couch. I even sent her on vacation because I thought it was her residential rental. She still kept getting up after a few seconds despite being exhausted. This sim was from the gallery and was never used.
It’s very rare for me to get non mod related bugs.
With 4 back to back updates in less harm a week I honestly am surprised that the game engine didn’t quit without giving us all a two weeks notice lol.

Thanks for looking into these, Erin! Personally, I had decided to take a break from Sims after I bought the Lovestruck pack just to give the team a chance to work out the bugs and to give mod creators a chance to work out conflicts.

In my experience with Cupid's Corner, the gallery favs system isn't working. The game just creates random townies as far as I can tell =(

I've the bug where the game crashes while travelling and an orange triangle appears over the destination on the worlds map.

The amount of bugs due to lack of testing is disgraceful and unprofessional. Simmers should be refunded.

I haven’t touched the game since the big pre-expansion patch. I was hoping to get back in this weekend but with all these bugs I’m going to wait another week at least.

Spellcaster tomes are broken with the latest update. No idea how that is related to the love theme but right now my spellcasters can't learn any magic by reading their books. That's the one issue that's been bothering me so far. But reading about corrupted lots scares me and makes me regret updating. I don't want to spend money on the new pack if it gives me more risk to corrupt my save.

I play vanilla on a clean install and haven't experienced any of these bugs. However, I did notice something that may or may not be a bug while playing through a date created via Cupid's Corner. When I clicked on my Sim's date, it showed only "More options" or whatever it usually says to expand the pie menu further, but nothing else. After clicking on that, it showed the typical tone categories, but when I tried each one, I could only give the date a gift. The exception was the Friendly category where I could do that but also tell a group story or play a hobby activity. This happened with two different dates in two different locations whose date events were created via Cupid's Corner. So, I tried adding a different Sim from Cupid's Corner to my Sim's contacts and creating a date event via the relationship panel. It worked just fine, and all interactions showed up again. What's funny is that I didn't have this issue on the day Lovestruck released, only after the last couple of patches. Therefore, it must be related to one of these latest patches and not the EP itself, assuming it's a bug. While it's nothing game-breaking, it's still annoying because it's more convenient to create the date event right on the app without having to add the Sim to the relationship panel first.

Just removing or disabling mods and doing a simple cache cleanup is frequently not enough. You need to rename the entire "The Sims 4" folder inside "Documents\Electronic Arts" (adjust for the language being used to play), then test the game. If no problem is found and recovering your saves (and mods/CC) is desired, do it gradually, but manually. Also, try to use "Save As" instead of plain "Save" whenever possible, and change the name of your saves even if just slightly. That's also good for Sims 3 (even more important, to be honest, as sometimes you get corrupt saves on Sims 3 beyond repair).

I should've expected that they would end up breaking the game more than fixing it. Guess I now have to wait another week or so for all these bugs to be resolved.

I've read that the traveling bug can corrupt the whole save, even if you try to recover a previous save state. I'm not updating the game until they fix that bug, I've finally gotten a save that I'm really invested in and if that gets corrupted I don't think I would play anymore, just build and make sums in cas occasionally.

I've had those problems on my XBox long before Lovestruck. I got an orange bar in my lot after a big update patch several packs ago. I discovered that our machines need to be more capable of playing a large number of the Sims packs. The more packs, kits, and expansions owned, the more lag, glitches, and corrupt gameplay/saves/objects occur. Recently, I discovered larger lots can only handle a specific limit of objects on them. I had to remove unused builds I created in other worlds because it added to the lag and glitches. I saved all the households I wanted and put them in a new gameplay to reduce corrupt saves. I redid their homes to fit their gameplay, kept the original Maxis design homes and venues of unplayed lots, and added a few custom builds with a decent amount of objects. After several hours of Sims play/builds, I often clear my Xbox cache.

I realized why Maxis always had very plain and low numbers of objects in their builds: They don't put a strain on the graphic card and cause my graphic settings to auto-adjust. Limit robust lots and rooms for gameplay, have as few saves as possible, create newer saves often, get rid of the older ones after 8 to 12 saves, reduce the plant usage, have small gardens, and keep a small number of relationships at a time.

Lastly, if you can't enter a lot or travel from it, go back to the save, go into build mode instead of play mode, bulldoze it, add it again from the gallery, create a new save, test it, and rid the old save. Something corrupted, or it has too much on it. That is why I always save my builds in the gallery and update them after major build changes throughout gameplay. I also learnt the Sims play better with a decent number of objects on more oversized lots. I will minimize my builds from now on before playing and sharing them. I hope that helped.

I’m having issues with not being able to fish anywhere except for the new town/world I can fish there but no where else. Not sure if anyone is having issues with that too. I play ps4 so definitely no mods. And I can’t get any sims from the gallery on the dating app. I’ve seen others having that same experience tho so I know I’m not the only one. The emergency patch helped with the mean interactions. I’m enjoying the couple’s interactions when I’m out it’s been very nice seeing more of them out and being with each other.I think the fishing issue has to do with fishing for the ring for the sad bear but not sure but I could fish anywhere before the first update .
