[SOLVED] - The File Or Directory Is Corrupted Or Unreadable - Hard Drive Wont Open

Ever try to open a USB hard drive or external drive and get the error message: "Location is not available" e:\ is not accessible The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable.

You can try to run the Chkdsk command in command prompt (CMD) to fix the disk. Now you should be able to recover your data and open the folder to access the files.

THE COMMAND: "CHKDSK /F /"YOUR DRIVE LETTER" (mine was E:)
You do not need to type anything else or launch any more commands.

I cannot emphasize how much you just saved my life. My friends and I spent an entire summer last year shooting an independent film, and spent all winter editing and doing ADR. Life saver, was going to explode because i thought I lost my files on my drive.

I bought an inateck external clone usb docking station & when i placed my HDD in it on my Win 10 new build it was acting crazy,
the explorer window would pop up & disappear, making it hard to access my files, then i got that dreaded "corrupt & unreadable" error msg & my heart dropped. did google search & came across the link tot his video.

follow his instructions in CMD & then I placed HDD in my old docking station & it pops up & all folders & files restored & appear.
