The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable (solved)

Hey guys,

Came across this error message when trying to open my external hard drive on windows 10:
E:\ is not accessible
The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable

So to fix this issue I did the following:
Type CMD into the windows search bar
Opened Command Prompt
Typed in: chkdsk/f e: (the letter should be whichever drive you are are having this error message for)
Pressed enter
and then chkdsk did it's magic and searched the drive for issues and rectified any problems that it could.
