The Last Sermon of Mike Bickle

Mike Bickle’s last sermon, given days before the sexual abuse allegations against him were made public. @IHOPkc has tried to scrub this from the Internet, just like they’ve tried to hide so much about this whole affair, for obvious reasons. It’s a masterclass on spiritual abuse.

The whole sermon is still available on @sermonindex, but since it’s almost 2 hours long I thought it would be worth making a shorter version with all the meandering asides cut out.

When I had to confront my abusive senior pastor through the eldership, my friend who was trying to help but feeling fearful said .. "are you sure we are not being Absolom at the gates?" 😢... And I said "No! I've seen the abuse and where scripturally are we told not to confront abuse? Where do church leaders get a free pass to hurt congregations?" ... Well let me tell you, it took 18 months .. and 6 months of me pulling away to rest my health from the saga.. but that senior pastor was not only removed from his position but he lost his credentials and his wife divorced him. I do not gloat, I simply say we can absolutely 100% report abusive leadership and I would do it again.

I have sat through so many hyper spiritualized, nonsensical sermons if we can call them that like this one too many times. It’s taken more than a decade for the Lord, to help me with all the scriptural and leader ship abuse that I experienced and watched others experience. Praise be to the Lord Jesus Christ, who is our only savior, and our only hope now and forever more! Jesus is the spirit of prophecy and his gospel is the prophetic word.

Used to be on staff there for too many years. Got out before this fiasco. Have heard too many sermons just like this. Could not even listen to this whole message. It was sickening. He has always likened himself to David and is so off like so much of his teachings. Hence, we left before the kool aid was served...

Wow, he sure was setting the stage. I've been in a situation where a pastor who was being confronted reminded me that David did not kill Saul when he had a chance. The old touch not God's anointed sermon. These guys are narcissists. They believe they are untouchable. He knew when he preached this he was about to be exposed. The other sermon is about Absolom or Jezebel.

The more haughty the pastor is, the more susceptible he is to falling into sexual sin. Sometimes, success goes to one’s head. I’ve seen it many times before, even in my own church. Don’t follow people; follow God, follow Jesus.

I've sat through sermons like this. A pastor I knew used to use things people said to him against them in his sermons and this sounds exactly what Mike Bickle is doing. He's setting up a case against anyone who would dare come against "the man of God", "the man after God's own heart." Lordy Lord. He's got a lot to fess up to on judgment day.

God is not going to continue being used this way. It’s a little frightening and more than sad, the lack of fear these kinds of people have for the God of the Bible. The abuse, spiritual and otherwise will continue as long as people stay silent.
