2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E Review | Is Ford’s long-awaited answer to the Tesla Model Y worth the wait?

The 2023 Ford Mustang Mach-E is a four-door electric SUV – not a two-door muscle car like the Mustang has been for almost 60 years.

So this begs the question, is Ford’s first high-performance EV fun to drive and, more importantly, does it live up to the Mustang name?

And more importantly, with pricing between $80,000 and almost $110,000 for the range-topping GT, can Ford’s first electric SUV compete with Australia’s top-selling EV and most popular SUV, the Tesla Model Y?

EV sales are at an all-time high in Australia right now and, despite arriving here almost four years after its debut at the 2019 Los Angeles motor show, Ford hopes its silent-but-speedy new ‘Mustang’ SUV could find favour.

The standard petrol mustang isn’t overly sporty compared to other cars so think branching out and repositioning the range into electric is a good marketing approach.

Sorry but that does not look like a $110k car. Interior looks budget and while performance is fantastic I just can’t see the money. So many better choices out there to choose from. It can have as much character as you want but still not worth it.

Its actually pronounced Mark E, like the fighter jet flying at Mark 1, 2 or 3. Spelt Mach E but sounds like Mark. Amazing vehicle. I purchased the GT version. It has loads of tech, looks sexy and it is very very VERY FAST. You can not compare a Tesla to this beauty. 'm sorry Feann Torr, this vehicle does look like a mustang and does live up to it's name Mustang. Everyone has their own opinion, I guess that is yours. I do like reviews done by carsales staff but Feann, not to be rude but I beleive I'm not the first to say, on every review you deliver, you come across as a smart ass. Cheers Caresales, keep up the good work and maybe hire a team that is more enthusiastic when they review vehicles.

Mach-E is pronounced MACK-Ee (unless you are German then Mach rhymes with Bach the composer- the same as the surname of the Austrian scientist Ernst Mach which it is names after)

BTW prices are Listed on the Ford Australia Website driveaway in NSW as at 25 October are $87, 289, $100, 439 and $117, 292 respectively.

The Model Y prices are $68, 319 (RWD), $84, 429 (long range) and $99, 299 luck Ford.

Since Australia was denied access the Mach E by the ADR investigation long after UK and NZ received RHD models until now available here might not do justice to the Mustang cheaper pony car, Mach 1 trademark and former Aussie made Falcon and Territory sport utility vehicle. Can the Mach E going off road with a RWD? This so called coupe SUV boot space not huge enough as the wagon by the way.

Tesla looks cheap and has no sex appeal, Chinese' electric vehicles look better than Tesla, well I should say most EV's look better than Tesla. The Mache E GT speed rivals vehicles that are worth $200k plus. The interior is plush, spacious and does NOT look cheap at all. Well spent money, can't wait to play on the road.
