Discovering Lufthansa Premium Economy in 2024

In this video, we'll jump onboard a Lufthansa Airbus A330 together from Frankfurt, Germany through to Dubai, UAE. With Lufthansa in a period of transition, I thought it a good time to see exactly what they can offer on this long haul route...

Overall, not great. Let's start however with the positives in that for what is a seat design now slowly on it's way out, I thought it held up pretty well both in terms of comfort levels and cleanliness. The entertainment screen also was modern and was quick to respond to the touch screen inputs. As part of the entertainment screen, it was great to see the external cameras also.

Beyond that however, they're a way behind even Europe's leading players in Premium Economy and miles behind those who lead globally. The video will go into many of the greatest areas of improvement for them however in short, the lack of cabin privacy between Premium Economy and Economy was bizarre. This when twinned with a pretty basic offering on the food front and economy style headphones twinned for a pretty poor showing from them. The service throughout the flight was efficient but functional, lacking any of the usual touches you'd get with the leading carriers.

That all being said, I have high hopes for the airline into the future with their brand new designs now being implemented onto their newest aircraft - their new Premium Economy really does look superb. I do wonder however how long it'll be before it's seen across the bulk of the fleet...

I flew with Lufthansa recently from Birmingham to Bangkok via Munich £987, The long haul flight from Munich was on the A380, the cabin crew were very nice, sadly the food that was served was not. Breakfast was omelette and spinach??? Not a sausage in sight 😢 Munich airport was very easy to navigate although the staff at the boarding gate seemed a bit overwhelmed and abrupt. I am not really convinced. They need to pull up their socks in order to survive in this industry. The competition is getting tougher every single day...watching all the way from South Africa.

brilliant review as usual, that dinner and snack service was really poorly presented why do so many airlines do cream cheese sandwhiches when so many people these days steer clear of gluten and cream/lactose? the chicken looked nice tho and a nice balanced meal for a long flight! looking forward to the next review!! i agree with virgin atlantic having excellent PE. i had a full christmas dinner, followed by a christmas stocking with a swarovski pen as a gift from LAX to LHR on Virgin atlantic ;') good times . BA was excellent too. i had a delicious steak beautifully presented with proper cutlery/crockery on their premium economy from LHR to rio de janerio

Hi, not the best experience in premium. surely they would take a good look at the competition and realise they have to improve. Like you say not one to recommend. cheers

Best thing about Lufthansa is that you still have the opportunity to fly on a 747 or the beautiful 340-600 or It's smaller sister 340-300, but that aside Lufthansa certainly seem to struggle in providing a good product in Economy and PE.
BA are much better, how the mighty fall.
