I have fire ants in my yard... I spot treat the mounds I see and apply a barrier around the home. the typical anti bug treatments simply get them to re locate which is perfect and I know that much smaller (cant see em) mounds exist and I want them too... I dont want them all gone... WHY? cause they control the flea, tick, termite and other ant populations... keep in mind that killing every single ant in your yard will result in some other bug taking advantage of their absence.

1 teaspoon borax “20 mule team” and 1 teaspoon sugar mix put in bottle caps and put in corners where ants move . If you know where ant nest are just sprinkle some on ant hill . Takes couple days .

There are consumer versions of this gel that are in big box stores. The one I bought I believe was from a company called combat. It was a syringe looking applicator and a clear gel. I'm pretty sure we bought it at Walmart. We put it down along our baseboard in our front entryway and in the kitchen. It attracted them like the traps you showed and it was a little shocking how many showed up. It looked like something out of an Indiana Jones movie. Then the 2nd day, there were not even half and several were dead. Then the third day all of the ants were gone, INCLUDING the dead ones! It's like the ones that were alive carried the dead ones away. On the fourth day almost all of the gel was gone and we didn't see any more ants the rest of the year.

Very timely info thanks! I was just cleaning ants off my counter top yesterday and wishing I had a good solution to deal with them. I have tried a lot of things, including ant spray, boric acid traps, and they keep returning. The direct spray has helped the most but I would rather kill the nest

Advion also makes one for roaches and it worked wonders. I used it when I first moved into my house and it worked like a charm. I think even some of the big carpenter ants ate it and died.

Great video, I definitely have to keep this one in mind. I had a terrible problem of ants swarming in my bedroom and it always happens at night, the last thing I want to deal with in the middle of the night.

Thank you for the info!! I would also recommend Terro Liquid Ant Bait. If the active ingredient in Advion is boric acid than Terro is another (cheaper) option. Terro utterly annihilated the serious ant problem we had in our New Jersey home/back yard. I actually felt bad because it so completely killed ALL the ants.

Looks good, will keep on the list when needed. Bit pricey though.
Boric acid, just a white powder works when mixed with sugar and flour into a wet paste. Cheapest, but takes forever.
For some years have used Dominion 2L, mix one drop with cap size maple syrup, the fake stuff works fine. Quick and cheap, 1 quart for about $20 may last decades. Has many other pesticide uses. Just don't use around flowering plants. They will likely ban this product for consumer use soon, bad for bees if not careful.

I see that you suggest Termidor SC for Termites. I was looking at setting Centricon bait traps which most of the pros use in my neighborhood. Do you have any experience or input for Centricon?
