That price difference for those local flights in Kenya is insane! I definitely learned the hard way to stop using Expedia. I lost so much money on a trip that had to be cancelled due to the craziness of 2020 (both on flights and rental car). I still use Expedia as a search engine, but I always book directly with the airline now. Thanks for these tips! So glad I discovered your channel!

Another consideration when doing group vs non-group pricing (aside from elite status) is if you’re tracking with kids. Every airline has rules for booking kids without adults and different countries have different rules for allowing kids to travel “without” both parents.
We went to Mexico a few months ago and out tickets had been booked as me with all the kids on one reservation and my husband on a separate reservation (same flight). We couldn’t do online check in since I was flying “alone” with the kids. (Airline needed verification that the other parent consented.)
Also, you run into “unaccompanied minor” issues.
