EVE Online | Academy - How to Scan Cosmic Signatures

Exploration sites can be found randomly in nearly any system by checking your Probe Scanner window. Cosmic Anomalies can be warped to immediately, but you'll need a Core Probe Launcher and eight Core Probes to begin scanning for Cosmic Signatures on the solar system map. If you're having trouble scanning a site to 100% then try equipping a Scan Rangefinding Array to your ship.

For real you guys need to make more of these videos on the base mechanics of EVE and integrate them into the actual game so that new players can easily access all these videos because this is so so much more helpful for new players than the help channels/in-game tutorial.

a few more tips:

1) The probe scan window will tell you your scan probe strength (76.6 in this video), your scan deviation (0.070 AU) and how long it takes to probe (5.625s).
2) you can usually skip a step with probe scan distance (from 8->2 AU instead of 8->4 AU), whether or not you can do this effectively is based on your skills (especially scan deviation).
3) signatures have a limit to how far away from a celestial they can spawn (appears to be ~5AU), you can use this to scan more quickly sometimes.
4) you can hold SHIFT to manually move probes, this can sometimes be necessary if your skills are low and have trouble pinpointing harder signatures (level III or level IV).
5) you can also hold ALT to resize the probe scan radius from within the solar system map, this can sometimes be easier to do instead of using the slider in next to the Analyze button.
6) if you still have trouble scanning, purchasing Sisters Core Scanner Probes can help. They are expensive but worth it. Purchasing the Sisters Probe LAUNCHER though is usually not worth it because they are quite expensive.
