To be clear: JONI MITCHELL WROTE THIS SONG. The reason Judy Collins charted it first was because Mitchell didn’t include it on an album until after. She performed it live before it was ever recorded by Collins.

I feel that your interpretation is completely wrong. In this superficial age of social media, the lyrics are as relevant as they have ever been, if not more!
The lyrics actually talk about the individuals interpretation of life itself & possibly depression!
Looking at clouds as things of wonder & then obstacles is exactly the way that life works!
They aren’t actually capable of preventing us from doing anything but yet they do!
The difference with life is that there are more people to influence the outcome, rather than just the individual.

Both Sides Now for me is Judy Collins.Besided you need to be very attentive to understand well the song.
Collins gives the time it needs.Mitchell goes to SLOWLY and doesn't pronounce clearly.I understand it because I knew it well.
