I remember doing this in high school, but that was 30 years ago. I am glad this channel explains it well. My teacher I had didn't do as well. I got an A in the class, but I never really understood what I was doing. I remember looking up on a chart to find out the degree. Could you do a video explaining how that number is calculated instead of just using a chart? Thank you in advance.

Hello, back in the 80's i was in hi school cabarrus catholic college in neg occ ph. I still remembered those abreviations of sine, cosine and tangent. Calculator was scarce we use the list in a little book trigonometric table.. it was awesome and challenging..

I am glad that I learned how to find an angle with the help of your clear instruction. Thank you so much for your presentation.

this guy probably is the best math teacher...his students are lucky but they probably don't realize that

I dug out my slide rule to see if I remembered how. It took me a while to realize that the T scales were themselves the degree values, and the tangent value is to be found on the C scale. So T is the arc tangent of C, once you figure out which T scale is the appropriate one. I got more than 3 significant digits, but not quite 4.

I learned more about trigonometry here than I did in high-school and my high school years were a long time ago about 40 years ago to be specific.

I really appreciate the simplicity of your lesson. When I was in grade 12 43 years ago, they made it so complex. Just tell us how it is done was what i wanted to blurt out. Thank you. What angle does tan sove or?

He is a very good teacher. Thank you very much.
How about if we forgot to bring calculator and no calculator available around. How to solve it without using calculator?

When I was learning these functions we had no calculators, we had books of trig and log tables.

how I wish I had teachers who were good at explaining as you do

Is there a way to calculate the inverse tan without a scientific calculator, I am hoping there is a way to work out my latitude by measuring the length of a shadow at solar noon? TY.

I learned how to do this many years ago but with my new calculator I just watched the video to figure out the keys on the darn thing.

I wish I would have been in your class. I had a scientific calculator but had no clue how to use the thing. I dropped trig in college. I’m learning now so maybe I can help my grandkids when the time comes.

FOCUS ON THE WHY? I’m 59 and l agree w most of the posts…”wish l had him as a Math teacher.” Respectfully, kick it up a notch! If you want real IMPACT (however u want to measure it), spend an equal amount of time on what most students are puzzled by on WTF does it matter. Get people to love/yearn math/science’s. Show them how (examples) it impacts life as they would know it. That’s the magic! Again, at 59 with a smaller window of time, there’s a greater appreciation, a hunger for “ what l don’t know…but should.) 😉

3, 4, 5, 90deg 60deg 30deg are the angles here. Used to layout squares etc in engineering and building etc. Great thing to know.

I did sheet metal layout and had a little pocket book with a chart but didn't have a calculator, non scientific, until 1971 . I bought it a jc Penny's for $75. Just did basic math . I was working with tool and die makers also . The owner said what are you going to do with a calculator but when he saw how fast I could figure things he required everyone to have one .
