MicroNugget: How to Configure a vSphere vNetwork Standard Switch
Показать описание
In this video, Greg Shields covers how to configure a vSphere vNetwork Standard Switch. He’ll show you how to execute the steps needed to separate traffic and prepare for hosting ESXi virtual machines. He’ll begin with an out-of-the-box configuration, then demonstrate how to set it up to fit your specific needs.
The goal of creating a virtual switch is to separate management network traffic from virtual machine traffic. Greg will walk you through creating a new connection type for virtual machines so you can direct the traffic to the appropriate switch.
He’ll outline why you want a redundant connection so you don’t have to worry about traffic interruption if a single NIC goes down.
By the end of the video, you’ll also understand why you need to configure the 802.3ad (LACP or EtherChannel) so that it’s set up correctly to support the load balancing between the two types of traffic. Finally, you’ll see how to set up a load balancing policy for both NICs that govern outbound traffic.
