Why I Bought An E92 M3

e92 M3 is a legend car, one of my dream cars. I'm currently looking at M2's but I might honestly get one of these before there aren't many good ones left!! Don't know anyone that their dream car is a boxster. M3 is one of a kind literally, only V8 M3 there will ever be.

Things that has gone wrong with my E92 that I'm sure you'll experience so just be prepared and set aside some cash. 1. Throttle actuators coz they're made of plastic, 2. Rod bearings - luckily I was in the neighborhood when it started knocking. I was able to drive home and replace it after 3 weeks.


The M3 is a great car. But just watch out for those two major ones (well, for me they were major).


But comparing it to my Boxster 986, well, I'd say the Porsche being older with 140K miles on it, and hasn't really given me problems except for the convertible motor, is a more reliable car. You can install a Magnuson Supercharger on it and it will give you tons of power.

To me It would be an easy decision. Keep the M3 imo. You can either make cash or make memories upto you. If you can afford the petrol costs keep it.

If you keep it, please get the 2 pipe exhaust mod, it makes it sound the way it should have come from the factory.

I’m currently looking for a e92 m3 facelift competition pack. 2011 do you think its impossible to find one like this for 17-18k mark also want millage less than 70k

Same as you I'm trying to decide between 35is or e92 M3 (or m240, or Cayman, or Golf R, or Granturismo).

I love both but I would keep the M3. It would be different if you were comparing it to a 911.

Keep the M3. Don't get me wrong the boxter is a great car but it's not a 911 and it carry's the sense of being a hair dresser's car or a poor man's 911.

They dont produce 420 at all. Moreso 370 to 390

I was close to buying it but it just seems like a money pit and like you’ll always be under constant stress of being stranded somewhere
