Transcript:
Active Directory Authentication is a Windows-based system that verifies users and endpoints, and services access to Microsoft's AD directory service.
It relies on protocols like Kerberos and Lightweight Directory Access Protocol, or LDAP, to provide authentication and authorization. Kerberos utilizes tickets issued by the Key Distribution Center on the Domain Controller to enable strong client-server authentication using secret-key cryptography, without transmitting actual passwords over the network. LDAP facilitates directory lookups and queries to Active Directory.
Active Directory Authentication provides centralized identity and access management to simplify administration and improve security for Windows networks.
Key capabilities include single sign-on, access policy management, and integration with multifactor authentication. Proper Active Directory security is critical to reduce risks related to compromised credentials and unauthorized access.
