Police arrest 18 across GTA for carjacking, home invasion and armed robbery | FULL

Peel Regional Police announced on Tuesday arrests made in home invasions, armed robbery, and carjacking investigations — what they call "Project Warlock."

Speaking in Brampton, Ont., police announced the arrests of 18 individuals who are believed to be responsible for these crimes, as well as over 150 charges. Plus, police seized four firearms, $55,000 in luxury items, 12 vehicles valued at approximately $1.2 million (used as crime vehicles or as a result of the carjackings and home invasions).

"It has forever changed the lives of some of these families and the children on the way they live on a day-to-day basis and the compromise on public safety goes beyond just the numbers," Chief Nishan Duraiappah said. "The ripple impact that we all know is one which deserves a strong response from a police service."

Parts of the investigation are still ongoing.

The problem with this is the arrested criminals and carjackers /thieves will be back on the streets before the ink on the charges are dry, you can arrest all the carjackers you want but they are released, they are not jailed. Canadian justice system is a joke.

This is the best police presentation I have seen in years. Calling on the Laws to be changed!!! Pictures and names and more thorough information on guns from where etc. We need transparency in order to trust the police, also the media. We also need cultural groups and families to speak out against this crime! Do not protect your criminal family members. No one enjoys increasing crime, which the public experiences, regardless of crime stats that always seem to be telling us crime is down. Thank you to the hard working Police Officers and Detectives who charged these offenders. Hopefully the Justice System will do their part with Offenders breaking the law while out on BAIL!!!
