With the lawyer, make an official complaint against the Uncle in the police force who enable this dangerous behaviour.

Well, _clearly_ thought Paula was invincible since she got away with crashing three cars and lying to police. The fact that her dad is pissed _at OP and his wife_ because Paula physically assaulted his wife and stole a neighbor’s car is alarming. Paula has issues and the people around her are enabling her.

S1: I'm glad OP pressed charges. Holy crap this Paula is going to get herself and/or someone else seriously hurt or killed at this rate! Of course stepdud will always have someone else to blame. Glad OP was able to move out. Even if mom gets the divorce, OP should not move back home. She can't be trusted.

story 1: so she's been crashing every car she's ever owned, she stole your car and crashed it even stole the neighbors car, she refuses to pay for the damages and even filed a false police report against you over crashing your car and her father called you a horrible person for wanting compensation for your crashed car. all the while your mom just stands there letting her daughter be robbed and abused without lifting a finger or saying a word, even if she divorces him the damage is done she made her choice and she chose the stepdad over her own daughter i hope OP doesn't forgive this horrible excuse of a mother.

Paula should have a license suspended in my opinion if she’s that much of a reckless driver. I mean does she drink and drive or get high? And what kind of drugs is the stepdad smoking to think stealing cars and totaling them when they’re not yours is OK? He puts the abler in enabler.

Story 1: After the last update, something tells me that Paula’s dad and uncle wont be able to get her out of THIS mess….

I would go to the police again and once again file a complaint against Paula AGAIN and the step dad as well for lying - have my mother on record to say Paula stole the car and then stepdad covered.

Lying to the police will get you arrested.

I really hope OPs mother gets that divorce. Also I hope this shows the Uncle that protecting her is a terrible idea.

I'm so tired of people labeling others in a split second as having a "personality disorder".... Do people not understand that not everything is mental health related? That many people are just entitled jerks? That no amount of therapy or "being nice towards them" will fix these monsters? I feel like it's a real insult to people that actually suffer from mental illnesses....

So are all the commenters telling OP to go to the police ignoring that she said her stepsister's uncle is a corrupt cop and helping her stay out of trouble with all this.

Story 2 the son NEEDED that moment of clarity xD He didn't know his place in the pecking order and his entitlement needed to be smashed

Story 3: NTA. Everyone who gambles is not addicted. OP seems to have a good system that works for him. People have different ways of saving. OP and Wife are not living way below their means to save faster, so I do not see an issue with OP's gambling. I, too, am into crafting for hobby. It can get expensive.

Story Three: NTA. And speaking as someone who buys art supplies, I think OP's wife is a selfish AH for not accepting the challenge to stop buying supplies for two months! No; she doesn't need everything she sees, and if she's spending like that on supplies, I'm pretty certain she's buying more than she uses! Also, the commenter who said they need to officially set aside a set amount on the hobbies is spot on!

Story 3: NTA, OP seems very disciplined in his expending, and going to the casino seems like a hobby, not an addiction. And on top of that, as someone who was an art teacher for 6 years and has been involved with art for a long time, I can confidently say that buying new expensive supplies/materials you are NEVER going to use can easily become sort of an addiction or at least a terrible expending habit.

Story 1 nta I heard this one before. Minus the second update. Hopefully op will win the case. Plus I wouldn't see the mom in the hospital. Sense she kept flavoring step sister.

#2: NTA. "You want the pizza *AND* the leftovers I paid for? What do I get to eat as the guy who pays for everything? Check yourself, son."

Story 1: this happens when you don't make them face the consequences of their actions. This is specially horrifying because she is not only a thief, she is reckless sooner or later she would end killing herself or someone else. That girl shouldn't be allowed near a steering wheel ever again

Last story. The one that suggested them sit down and set a limit I guarantee she wouldn't like that either. He has his limit set at 200. I bet hers is way more. Going out and buying art supplies is her addiction.

Story 2: OP should say to son: "Sorry, I didn't see your name on the pizza." In my parent's household and my own household any leftovers are fair game for whoever grabs them unless someone says specifically that they want it or put the leftovers in a container marked to say it's theirs.
