Dad kicked out his own kid. Of course he deserves this.

He abandoned her when she needed him the most. I could never trust or forgive my parents if they had done the same to me, no matter the excuses. I hope OP doesn't regret her decision.

Another story where people just believe anything people say without proof and end up ruining everything.

That is so wild choosing your second wife over you child that you raised by yourself before even meeting her

Nah, shouldn't have delete the post. Stepmonster may be an evil witch, but sperm donor is not a child. He should be able think for himself.

I think she should wait until the divorce finalized, and pretty much ONLY will try the relationship again if it's FINAL that stepmom would bE GONE and have RO on her.

don't feel shit about that guy, he didn't need your help to make all the wrong decisions, he won't need your help to regret the consequences.

I'm starting to think that as a stepchild, you should record interactions cause this is getting sad. Biological children getting tossed aside cause of spinless whipped men.

Honestly it's up to Op at the end of the day if she forgives her father, but all the heavy lifting needs to be on him to fix the relationship. He destroyed it, so it's up to him to rebuild it and not cop out to evil stepmother made me do it excuse. Even if the stepmother was telling the truth, he kicked out his child who at the time was effectively paralysed, to keep his bed warmer happy. If you can't count on someone in a time of need, then how can you ever trust them again?

Even if he believed his wife, kicking OP out while bedridden from an accident was next-level horrible.

How convenient he’s only sorry now that the ex wife is no longer interested with him and admitted the truth. Your kid is crumpled in an accident and you kick them out before they even get to heal. His apology is so fake and op is too desperate to be close with their father to see through the cracks in his lies.

8:15 for shorts people!! I know it seems long but there was extra yapping that made it 8 minutes long.

We all knew that OP was pretending to be tough but deep down she was ready to re-establish the relationship with her dad at the drop of hat.
He treated her like c…rap and threw her out, but she’s weak and dhumm…
Oh well…

The grandparents are great people for taking care of OP but they are wrong in saying that the Dad shouldn't have been mentioned or did they forget his fight with them on how he completely sided with the stepmom. If the father wants to make wrong decisions and just reach out needing something without apologizing he should be feeling part of the consequences because he never believed OP. So the grandparents and father have a secret conversation but decided not to tell OP about it until everything came to a boiling point. They didn't think that through. There's only one way the stepmom could be convincing in what she's saying about OP. Just because someone is older doesn't automatically make them an honest person all the time.

Wow, your story is both heartbreaking and inspiring. I can’t imagine the pain of being betrayed by someone you should have been able to trust.

How did you manage to cope during those tough months and the betrayal that followed? It’s impressive how you’ve handled everything and leaned on your grandparents for support.

Very well said.

OP reacted with what they thought was the right thing to do and had no reason to feel guilty because OP's father proved in his actions for 16 years that he would all was put stepmother first even if he wanted to make amends for real stepmom was all was going to get in the way.

Sometimes you have to make that decision for yourself. Hopefully everything works out for them.
