Hello Buddies,
Skip started doing this a few weeks ago, we tried various ways to help him at first but it looks as if it's only getting worse.
He eats healthy, plenty of vegetables and I even added vitamin supplements to his water.
How can I help him?

I had the same situation, my budgie was so in love with the female so when she died, he died a few days later. Romeo and Juliet😭💛I wish you all such love like budgies have

And yet some people have the audacity to say animals don’t feel or have emotions. Hope Skippy gets better ❤️

I believe the only way to cure it is to give him more time . To make him forget his past . He misses her dearly . Just like when we humans lose our loves ones . He needs someone who he was second most closest, like u (owner)

These little creatures are more than they seem. He couldn't get over the loss of his bestest and sweetest friend. There is heart break and sorrow in each little feather he pulls from his body. Birds really are so special.

This is really sad and i hope he gets better
Try give him challenges for example get a piece of paper and have a little ball of millet inside and he has to try and get it i did that for one of my budgies (keeped on plucking his feathers since his partner died) really helped!

0:49 you can tell that the new budgie was having a real and coping conversation with him. Just sitting and accompanying the greiving budgie.

this is what happened to me. Since my friend had a dog, she couldn’t let the budgies out. She took care of my 2 budgies for 8 months, and when I got them back I opened the cage and my bird was slamming her head everywhere, and she died the next day due to severe injuries. After a few days of her death, my second budgie couldn’t take it anymore and also flew to heaven. I miss them so much…😭

I had the same problem once and I couldn'und t help her (her partner had died after five years). Of course she was never alone. I had two other birds and bought a handsome boy for her. But she plugged her feathers and started to eat less and less. A friend of mine had 7 birds and took her in. She became another bird and became really happy. Might be, he needs more playmates. It was the case with my bird. Of course I am not a professional, but I know the feeling seeing your bird suffer like that. I hope you can find a way to help him.

I feel so bad for Skippy. I can relate to this situation because my budgie Timmy did pluck his feathers like 5 years ago. Nothing was wrong at all but he was constantly plucking his feathers till his death. I found him death on the ground that morning on fathers day bleeding out because of plucking. And we don't know why he did pluck his feathers to this day. My mom and I thought he did that because he flew against te wall pretty fast and it probaly damaged his wing and skin. So rest in piece little Timmy, you are still here with us!🙏

And yeah, I'm so sorry for my bad English. Because I'm from the Netherlands

I used to have an aviary. Birds are very social animals. They experience love and respect. Skippy will never be the same but with lots of interactions and perhaps a new friend he will get better. Feather pulling is a sign of depression and stress.

Poor baby! So much like humans that suffer a loss. I'm a widow for 7 years and the pain is still fresh.
I think feather plucking is a self soothing habit that's very hard to stop.
Like people with Tricotillomania. Hair pulling habit that also is extremely hard to stop. Leading to bald areas on the scalp.
I hope your sweet little boy is feeling better and in love again. 💞

Most of the time when something is wrong with my budgie I play a relaxing song and talk to him and trying to understand him I know it sounds stupid but it will work I hope that I was able to help more but it's only 8 months that I have my own budgie just be hopeful and happy because budgies will understand your feelings and if they feel you're sad they're going to be sad too
❤❤❤
