How to Help a Sick Budgie

Hello Buddies,
A sick budgie always needs to visit an avian vet first, this video is intended for those who are not capable of getting their budgies to a vet!

Please note that I have provided the most efficient ways of caring and helping a sick budgie, but sometimes it doesn't matter how hard we try, and we might just lose them.
*When you'll hold your budgie for the treatments, please hold it under a paper-towel when its head is exposed and its body is covered, don't apply pressure as you can kill it by suffocating while squeezing its chest.

/ PEDIALYTE /
Please follow the following recipe for homemade pedialyte:
1 cup warm water
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 baking soda
1 tbsp honey
Optional: Coconut water that is 100% organic and free from any additives. *NOT COCONUT MILK, NOT COCONUT OIL.
Provide pedialyte morning and evening, two drops each time for 2 days or until your budgie drinks on its own.

/ PROBIOTICS /
Provide only regular probiotics, not enhanced ones.
Break a capsule and use only a quarter of the powder, dissolve into 1ml of water and let your budgie drink three drops of water once a day for three days or until you see improvements in their droppings.

Our budgie started showing signs of sickness. At first we thought maybe he hurt his claw but then he stopped eating and drinking, started hanging out on the bottom of the cage and progressively became more weak, often times losing his balance when trying to move. He also was lethargic and eventually developed diarrhea. After about a day and a half I decided to look for home remedies as taking him to a vet wasn’t possible. I found this video and did the pedialyte, probiotic, blanket and warm lamp nearby. I also separated him from the other bird and put him in a small cage with no wire bottom. Within 2 hours he perked up and started eating his seed again. Within 6 hours he was able to sit on his perch but still a little wobbly. I repeated the pedialyte and probiotics 10 hours later and so far he’s doing well. I almost gave up and thought he would just pass away but this saved him! Thank you

My new budgie got sick, and its my fault since i didnt change her water in time. They tend to poop in it, and then drink from it. This is a reminder to change your budgies water multiple times a day. I hope my baby makes it ❤

Thank you so much for this. My budgie got sick on New Year's weekend when everything was closed, and I was unable to drive to an emergency vet due to my own disability. I'm certain this is what kept her alive until we could make it to our closest vet. Its still a little uncertain if she'll pull through, but given that she's already shown a lot of improvement just with the home remedies, I have hope.

thank you. i tried the pedialyte thing and just gave it to my bird. however, something that really helps is just putting your budgiesomewhere warm, and not stress him. made him feel miles better.
