HOW TO ASK FOR HELP

A couple of years ago my wife and I adopted our son and adoption was extremely expensive. We didn't know what to do but knew we were called to adopt. We asked everyone we knew -- friends and family if they could help provide. It was very humbling and one of the hardest things I think I've had to do in my life. We only had one or two people that were actually totally offended but for the most part it was amazing to see the generosity, love, and support from our family and friends.

For many years my pride kept me from excepting help of any kind. I was the one that helped others.  What a blessing I got from it.  But I got to thinking about it. If I don't except help I knock someone out of the blessing they get from helping others. So I started taking offers of help. It makes people happy to know they have helped someone

You said some very sensible things here. What I sometimes tell people who find it difficult to ask for help, is that every time they ask someone to help them, they actually do that person a favour. They give him or her the opportunity to do good and to feel good about it. Guess this different approach of the situation makes it psychologically more acceptable to always have to ask for help.

thanks so much. You are so good with people and I just love watching you. I accepted the offer for a ride to the grocery store with my neighbor which did me great to get out. I admire your strength and feel like God has blessed me to find the channel. Obviously I didn't know how to send pm so me posting a video on these meds would be a miracle but!
