I grew up all over the Middle East and North Africa. Traditionally the Spice comes from harissa paste. A blend of chilli and rose petals. Big favourite with my family. In fact my 123year old grandson Ashton cooks it for himself 2 or 3 times a week lol. Will watch this with him at the weekend, we enjoy your channel a lot.

My Kurdish Uncle used to fix something he called "Hicks and Tomat."
He would simmer thick slices of tomato to the sweat point, then crack an egg into the centers, season with his personal blend of middle-eastern chili peppers, black pepper, and salt. So damn good on a slab of toast!
Nice recipie! I'm trying this version soon!

Just got back from a long Euro vacay and just saw this video. Shakshuka is a recipe I have been making for decades and we love it. It comes from North Africa and everyone from Morocco to Algeria to Tunisia to Libya to Egypt try to claim they invented it!! Great to travel to Morocco and Egypt and try their versions...not very different. Thanks for showing this recipe.

I'm from Eritrea and we use a spice blend called Berbere. I think you'll love the boost of flavor as well as the smokey pepper it brings to any dish. It's a flavor bomb in the best way.

Great cook! One of my wife's favorite dishes. But she is a Baby Mouth, so I lean into the bell pepper and smoked paprika rather than spicy. We eat it with pita bread.

Shakshuka is awesome and I love your take and right on, it’s great for multiple meals. It’s really versatile. Some spicy Hungarian paprika would be a nice add. Love the channel!

I just, by chance, cut your trail yesterday evening and I followed it, today, back 4 years, and that was enough for me. Looks like you and I have very similar tastes in food, so I'm now a new subscriber. Don't know why I never came across your channel before, but I'm glad I did. Watching from South Texas.
