Works even better if you use a little vinegar in your rinse water! Soaps are usually alkaline. Using vinegar (acetic acid) in the rinse water helps to neutralize the PH and helps remove any soap residue. It also helps to deodorize and “freshen” the carpet. The smell of the vinegar will disappeared when the carpet dries.

He is right it really does work lots better than putting cleaner in the carpet cleaner. I do it on light beige carpets and I have always had big dogs. Works great.

I don't have a carpet cleaner but I use a similar method with my wet vac.
I spray down the carpet or upholstery with slightly soapy water (I use dish detergent or clothes detergent). Then wet-vac it up. Then spray with plain water, then wet-vac that up. Then fan/open windows for quick drying.
Note : a regular vacuum cannot be used. Must be a wet vac.

Good tip thank you. With 3 dogs that are in and out multiple times a day and rain 9 months out of the year our carpets get dirty. I try to clean them every 6 months or so.

I've found adding in a little Oxy-Clean powder to the soap REALLY gets olefin carpets cleaner, gets all of the oils out and it easily rinsed.

Yes! Especially when deep cleaning your carpets. When you see the difference 🤯 I do a first round prep with OxyClean for stubborn spots. Now is a good time while the weather is warm and you can let your carpets air dry completely.
