Humility isn't thinking less of myself, it's thinking of myself less.

Focusing on someone else's feelings with genuine empathy helps alot. Your brain cant on focus on your own feelings and how another person is feeling in that same moment. Also, because we are pack animals, we get an emotional boost when we help others.

Focusing on how another person is feeling helps a lot because your brain can't focus on your own negative emotions while genuinely focusing on another persons feelings

I would’ve been like, “Jordan, can we eat first? I’m suffering!”

This is exactly why Mother Teresa’s DO IT ANYWAY has always been on the wall and pointed out especially to teens who suffer mightily with self-conscious absorption. ❤

My weakness is where God manifests His strength the most. It’s not about self-centeredness; it’s about humility and acknowledging the reality of our own inabilities.

You're preaching to the choir doctor. I've got Avoidant Personality Disorder. Self-consciousness is constant suffering. Even when I'm alone, the intrusive thoughts and memories of embarrassment are still there.

It's self-consciousness aka focusing on our personal insecurities vs others-consciousness, that is making other people the focus of our interactions

And that's not to nit-pick but rather inquisitively to understand and possibly appreciate and love.. Others-centered interactions has always given back to me in unexpected ways

So for me, self-consciousness does not always mean negative emotions, if there's self-acceptance - giving me grace (out of surrender not comparison)

God, I wish I could let go of my self-consciousness because I do suffer because of it.

This is extremely interesting on so many levels. The people I admire the most are self aware enough to calibrate what they do and say but they are confident enough to focus on what they are doing and their passions and services that they're fully present and happy. They also make me feel more confident and relaxed. It's like our best side can come out when our worst is not our main focus.

I've had this conversation before.
And I have to agree.
To be self conscious is most definitely to suffer.
I love how your mind works man

Self conscious isn't "not thinking".
Is not having an image of yourself.
If you discover something wrong in the image, then you suffer the impostor sindrome.

But, if you get to know you now, and then the You of tomorow, by observing every thougth, every action, then not only you truly know yourself, but also can rapidly change your the actions that have bad results.

That s why a failing career hurts so much - when reality pulls to the present, and you pull to the past: confusion
And when you cant mantain, you stop doing anything to not give an justification to reality - works, if you want be a dead soul.

Had to internalize this to get into Swing dancing. Y’know, leads gotta ask the follows and all that, and you just gotta go up and do it. And if you get too wrapped up in yourself, you get paralyzed and then no one has any fun. So you have to ignore that you’re gonna look weird and just ask. Tbh, I’m still working on it, but I’m getting there

You can also be conscious of the effect your presence has upon others and be empathetic towards them.

I grew up being do self conscience that I couldn't speak for fear of saying the wrong thing. I wasn't allowed to have my own opinions znd was told I was stupid. Even Iin my 60s I still can't shake it. Being single for over 30yrs now is my safe zone.
