Always Use Dolby Atmos for Apple TV 4K & LG OLED TV

This video describes how and why I configure my living room home theater system, which is only a 2.2 setup, to play using Dolby Atmos audio from content sources like my 2022 Apple TV 4K for better audio quality.

I am just doing 5.1 not bothered about Atmos.
I have noticed if you set HDMI output on TV to PCM it comes out Louder than when set to Bitstream.
So l use PCM and set AV Receiver to DTS Neu X for Streaming as Netflix Dolby Digital Plus gives out way too Low Dialogue when TV HDMI Output is set to Bitstream

AAC ain’t that bad, one of the best lossy codecs and Apple has the best AAC implementation there is. I‘d really prefer them to stream high quality AAC 5.1 instead of Dolby Digital 5.1 (I believe @384 kb/s) for movies where Atmos is not available (or upgrade to E-AC3 across the board like Amazon Prime for example).

you could have shown that with your TV set to bitstream and that ATV audio with Atmos will still send not regular PCM, but a MULTICHANNEL PCM that gets received by TV as Dolby Atmos…not technically bitstream, but no loss of quality nonetheless and still Atmos as you have demonstrated.

So it's better to have the Apple TV directly connected to the TV rather than connected to an AVR which is connected to the TV?

My sonos surround can output ATMOS from APPLE TV 4k through my Sony OLED A80K with no issues.

So it’s a bit like the sound alternative of watching 4K on a 1080p display cos it’s still better encoded even though it can’t show it in all it’s glory 👀

You might be the only person who can help me. I just bought a 100-inch Hisense U7K TV and I'm using a brand new Apple TV 4K+ unit. I have Dolby enabled for everything, but when I'm watching action movies, the sound cuts out for about a second during loud action sequences. This happens every couple of minutes. So far, it only seems to be happening in the HBO app. I've tried searching Apple forums and watching videos, but I can't find any solutions. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help.

Anybody having an issue with Apple TV 4K Dolby Atmos? When audio format is set to Atmos in Apple TV setting sometimes I have audio issues like no dialogue I can hear background sounds but no dialogue.

Hey Jaremy, I enjoy your channel and am still learning for an old guy. Just purchased the Apple 4K TV and the Sony A90K. I would like to integrate both with my Yamaha RX V683 receiver 3.0 system. Great video!I have an 1080p projector apple tv 4k 2022 and an avr non atmos with 7.1 set up.If i buy a new avr with atmos support and my speaker set up remain 7.1 as i cant atmos set up shall i have higher bitrate at movies from itunes store.?i"ll set appletv audio to "atmos" and then i have higher bitrate?Always with 7.1 set?I would appreciate if answer to me in order to bur new avr.thaks keep on.!

I have a soundbar attached to my TV and I use a 4k Apple TV. For some reason PCM sounds much better than Bitstream. Why is that? The sound is even louder on PCM vs Bitstream. I also have an LG TV for when I am changing the settings
